Square Enix filed for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent English trademark back on the 8th of this month, but only revealed the fact on 20th December in Japan. The game already has a Japanese release which was in October of last year, but the language barrier and region lock has restricted many players from playing the game.
However, with this now it’s confirmed, that the game will have its eventual global release down the line. Players should follow the company’s official Social Media handles like Twitter to keep up with its release info. Players can see the source for the trademarks here (via Gematsu).
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent features amazing graphics and gameplay
The game features the traditional RPG style with impressive graphics that feels like a cross between 2d and 3d. The game company calls this HD-2D. It also has the classic ATB battle system with a wide range of characters to play with. Now the game has three main stories with the possibility to play three different types of stories with the themes of “fame”, “wealth”, and “power”.
Just like the first game, this game also heavily relies on strategies to defeat enemies, as there are a lot of mechanics that can be used to counter the enemies.

The game has the standard gacha mechanics, where ‘rubies’ are the premium currency used for pulling characters among other things.
This game is also the prequel of the original Octopath Traveler, from which most things seem to have been inherited to the sequel. Octopath Traveller was a non-gacha RPG game that was released on platforms such as Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10.
