Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga’s strategic MOBA based on the beloved IP, is shutting down on October 1, 2025

A major IP game sunsetting too soon!

Story Highlights
  • Star Wars: Hunters offered new, original characters, intense 4v4 battles, customization, and more.
  • Zynga won't be refunding for any in-game purchases.
  • The PC release has also been cancelled.

Zynga has announced the shutdown of their casual strategic MOBA, Star Wars: Hunters, scheduled for October 1, 2025. Originally planned for a 2021 release, the game was soft-launched the same year before officially launching on June 4, 2024.

Star Wars: Hunters is shutting down after just a year of service

Star Wars: Hunters is a casual strategic MOBA set on the planet Vespaara, featuring new, original characters battling in intense 4v4 third-person combat. In this game, you can pick a Hunter from a roster of new, unique characters, use diverse abilities and strategies, enjoy diverse game modes, and more.

Unfortunately, the Star Wars: Hunters team announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the game will shut down on October 1, 2025. They shared, “We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly.

You can play as Tuya, the new Support Hunter for free and compete in a final Ranked Mode leaderboard

Ahead of the shutdown, the final content update of Star Wars: Hunters will arrive on April 15, 2025, disabling in-game purchases across all platforms. The good news, however, is that you can play Tuya, the new Support Hunter, for free, along with additional in-game content. The devs also confirmed a final Ranked Mode leaderboard.

Additionally, Season 5 is going to be extended by three weeks on March 25, 2025, with events re-run and shop bundles. They are also extending the Ranked Season, giving you more time to hit Kyber 1 rank, if you are planning to. You can enjoy the game’s last moments till its termination date.

It’s disappointing to see a game based on such a massive IP shutting down, especially since the planned PC release has also been canceled. While some fans are sad about the news, others have criticized the devs’ mobile-first approach.
