Wuthering Waves undergoes character design censorship, without official announcement from Kuro Games

Are you happy about this unannounced censorship?

Story Highlights
  • Kuro Games has yet to issue an official statement regarding this unannounced censorship.
  • Cantarella, the new 5-star Havoc, had her previously high-cut undergarments altered to a less revealing design.
  • Fleurdelys, a weekly boss, also had her outfit changed with added undershorts, not present in the original design.

Wuthering Waves, the popular action RPG from Kuro Games, features beautifully designed characters, however, a recent mini update seems to have introduced announced censorship. Changes were made to the underwear designs of a limited banner character and a weekly Boss, with no notice from Kuro Games.

Wuthering Waves has altered the outfit of its new banner character, making it less revealing

In a surprising turn of events, Wuthering Waves appears to have undergone character censorship, despite the game being recently rated 16+ in Play Store, which allows for Nudity. While many players were expecting it to lean further into mature designs, this unannounced censorship suggest otherwise.

This character design censorship is mainly done to Cantarella, the newly introduced 5-star Havoc Resonator, in the Version 2.2 update. Known for her eye-catching design, her outfit has received modifications, mainly her undergarments, which were previously more revealing, with a high-cut design.

In addition to her, Fleurdelys, a weekly Boss character also received similar treatment, as her outfit design is altered, now having extra undershorts, something that wasn’t a part of her original design. That being said, Kuro Games has made no official announcement regarding these changes.

This sudden and unannounced censorship has also surprised the fanbase, with many complaining how it ruins the design and is are lazy effort, others speculating that this censorship is because of the CCP’s pressure. To me, it looks like an attempt to bring the game back to a 12+ rating from the current 16+ rating.
