Supercell‘s mo.co puts you into the shoes of a recruit who joined a new monster-hunting startup. You traverse along the various worlds to hunt down big bosses and monsters while upgrading your gear in an action RPG game. Sounds fun, right? But is it worth your time? That’s what I’ll break down in this detailed mo.co game review.
Before we get into the minute details, I’d like you to know that this mo.co review was written after playing the game for 50+ hours on an OnePlus 12R device. At the time of writing this review, I’m Elite level 61 and have experienced almost everything thoroughly.
mo.co is Supercell’s take on the hit monster-hunting genre
If you’re longing for a good monster-hunting experience on a mobile device, mo.co might be a great fit. For years, we have not been able to get a good and fun monster-hunting title on mobile, but it looks like Supercell has finally filled the gap with its latest top-down action RPG.

As you start the game, you join a monster-hunting startup. You’ll be given tasks by your superiors, and each of these quests will unlock a new world, new gear, etc. By hunting down the monsters, you’ll unlock new gear to make your build powerful enough to take on even stronger opponents.
While mo.co is primarily a PvE game, it also has PvP modes. Unlike Supercell’s other titles, this one is purely focused on the PvE experience.

If I talk about originality and innovation, it looks like mo.co has drawn some inspiration from Catalyst Black, a title from Super Evil Mega Corp that was launched in 2022. The primary concept has many similarities, including the top-down perspective. So I’ll not say that mo.co’s concept is entirely new for mobile gamers, but it is fresh.
Core gameplay is fun, but can be repetitive
One of the most fun parts of mo.co is that you get the option to drop in or drop out according to your choice. There’s no particular gameplay session duration. It all depends on how long you want to play, where you go, hunt down monsters, and come back. That’s the game in a nutshell.
I loved how this gives players the much-needed freedom to play it the way they want. You get one new quest every 3 hours up to a maximum of 10 quests at a time.

The progression system has been done well, which is very much expected from Supercell. There’s a daily cap on the XP you can get. But if you are not a hardcore player, you’re unlikely to hit the limit.
Since mo.co is all about monster hunting, if you grind excessively, then you may feel burnt out, which happened to me during the first week of the launch. But once you get close to completing all the quests, you may start losing interest in this game.
Considering the game is very new, I expect Supercell to introduce more end-game activities. Otherwise, it will be hard for the loyal and long-term players to stick around. The start has been fantastic with the positive responses, and hopefully it will continue.
Feast for the eyes and ears
mo.co’s graphics and music are what make it a great experience. The vibrant world design is something that you’ll remember. Even though we play in a top-down perspective, the intricate details the game shows are something I appreciate.

Not only the graphics, mo.co’s soundtracks are probably one of the best, if not the best! Although the game does not have a proper storyline where soundtracks can be more impactful, it still leaves most of the players in awe. For me, I often find myself playing the mo.co soundtracks on YouTube.
Social experience needs improvement
Social experience is the core of Supercell’s titles. In mo.co you can easily drop in or drop out friends, but I feel this is an area where mo.co needs a huge improvement. There is a friends tab that shows friends and their details. But for a game like this, a clan or similar system will add a massive value to the social experience.

Right now, there’s no clan system. There is a group system, but it is very confusing for someone new to this game. You create a lobby there or join someone else’s. A clan system would make this much easier for the players to understand. I would love to see clans where we can also do some tasks together.
Just like other Supercell titles, there’s no voice chat in mo.co. While this would have been a very nice experience for a game like this, I understand Supercell games’ audience and why Supercell never introduced voice chats in any of their games.
An absolute free-to-play title
This is the first time Supercell decided to go full-on free-to-play experience. So if you do not want to spend a single penny on this game, you are good. Supercell has monetised the cosmetics, such as dresses, mounts, etc, which do not give the spender any additional advantage over the player who has not.
The premium currency of the game, mo.gold can also be earned for free! But the process is slow. But hey, something is better than nothing. The events in general offer handsome rewards, so you do not need to worry about spending money.

And surprisingly, even with this free-to-play model, reports reveal that mo.co is earning decent revenue considering its age. This shows the love from the community and their support of Supercell picking the F2P model for this game.
Final Verdict – a worthy addition to Supercell’s legacy
The last question that will come to every Supercell fan is, mo.co a worthy addition to Supercell’s legacy? Does it have the Supercell games DNA? The answer for both is yes! Supercell did justice to their existing portfolio, and it has everything that a Supercell fan would look for (except clans, for now).
If you’re looking for a fun, vibrant, action RPG game where you do not mind the top-down gameplay, then mo.co might be a great choice. Whether you are a hardcore grinder or a busy person with little time to play mobile games, mo.co fits both perfectly!

Good
mo.co offers a fun and vibrant RPG gameplay in the monster hunting space. That being said, if you can bear the game's top-down approach, it's definitely a must try!
