Niantic announced the upcoming Community Day to be held on April 23 globally

Niantic has partnered with Ecosia to plant a tree for every player who moves 5 kilometers on Community Day

Niantic has announced the second Niantic Community Day, which will take place on April 23rd, 2022. This year, Niantic is stepping it up a notch by having a Niantic Community Day once a month through July 2022! All of Niantic’s games will now be featured at Community Days throughout the world.

In addition, as part of Niantic’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and in honor of Earth Month this April, Niantic has partnered with Ecosia to plant a tree for every player who moves 5 kilometers on Niantic Community Day, with the goal of planting a total of 100,000 trees.

This Niantic Community Day in April 2022 is not the end as Niantic will continue to host Niantic Community Days through this summer, featuring all of our games, in locations around the world. This month, we’ve added 42 locations, totaling 65 locations globally – to continue our mission of inspiring people to explore the world together.

New Kinetic Capsule Programs will be available in Ingress

The Earth Day 2022 event will enable new Kinetic Capsule Programs globally for Ingress players on this Niantic Community Day in April 2022. The Earth Day 2022 theme is “Invest In Our Planet.” This event will run on the theme that this planet in this Universe is ours, and together we should do our best to care for it. On this Niantic Community Day, move 5 km with any Niantic game, and Niantic will plant a tree in your honor.

To support Earth Day, starting Thursday, 21st April 16:00 UTC through Monday, 25th April 16:00 UTC, NIA will enable the following new XM-Degradable Kinetic Capsule Programs:

  • 5x L8 Resonators to 40x L1 Resonators
  • 5x L8 XMP Bursters to 40x L6 Ultra Strikes
  • 5x L8 Ultra Strikes to 5x L6 XMP Bursters
  • 1x Aegis Shield to 8x Common Portal Shields
  • 1x Very Rare Multi-Hack to 8x Common Multi-Hack
  • 1x Very Rare Heat Sink to 8x Common Heat Sink

Additionally, the following effects will be activated:

  • Kinetic energy distance for all Programs reduced from 8km to 4km
  • The Optima Kinetic Capsule metric will return to your Scanner to track progress one last time

The reduced Kinetic Capsule distance only applies to newly run Programs and does not apply to Programs already running prior to the start of this event. You must complete your existing Program, and only at running your next Program then the reduced distance will be used.

Optima has been defeated, but the Optima Kinetic Capsule metric will return to your Scanner to track progress one last time. While the previous statistic should be available at the start of the event, Agents will need to take in-game activities such as hacking or recharging a Portal in order for their tiered medal to be updated if they finished enough Programs during the initial challenge in 2021. With Adventure Sync enabled, completing higher tiers of the Optima Kinetic Challenge medal is much easier.

Just to let the players know, even if the Ingress Scanner isn’t active, Adventure Sync interacts with Google Fit or Apple HealthKit to track your walking distance. This distance counts toward the Trekker medal as well as the completion of Kinetic Capsule Programs.

Adventure Sync is a feature that can be enabled or disabled at any moment. Regardless of Adventure Sync settings, the rolling 24-hour 40km limit on distance walked will remain. And FITREP (Fitness Report) is a weekly summary of distance trekked and progress towards Kinetic Capsule Programs for your convenience.

Apart from this, Niantic has announced the Pokemon GO Stufful Community Day Retweet Sweepstakes in the coming Season of Alola. This is a chance-based sweepstake in which skill will have no bearing on the Sweepstakes winners. The Sweepstakes begins at 10:00:00 A.M. Pacific Time (PT) Zone in the United States on April 18, 2022, and ends at 11:59:59 P.M. PT on April 23, 2022.

Pikmin Bloom April 2022 Community Day brings in many exciting in-game rewards

  • Big Flowers will bloom into tulips when you plant regular blue, red, yellow, or white petals around them
  • Players achieving the 10,000 step goal on this day will be awarded a special Tulip Flower Badge
  • Seedlings in your planter pack will grow at 1.5x the usual speed (and more, if you’re flower planting!)
  • Receive 1 bonus coin per 250 flowers planted instead of the usual 500 (capped at 60 coins/day)

Also, starting with the beginning of Community Day on April 23rd, you will be able to obtain fruits containing tulip nectar with every challenge you clear! Please note that challenges will no longer be a source of cherry blossom nectar.
