Why you should sign up for Mobile Subscription services

Best mobile subscription services for you!

For a while now, we’ve had some interesting subscription services pop up for mobile. And the key players here are Netflix Games, which comes for no extra cost with your regular Netflix subscription, Google Play Pass, which gives you access to a bunch of paid titles only for a small monthly or yearly fee and then Apple Arcade, which has exclusive titles for those with a subscription. Perhaps for a change in the coming year, you could try out one of these if you haven’t already.

Why should you purchase a subscription service

List of mobile gaming subscription services with prices

  • Google Play Pass: For getting hold of the Google Play Pass, subscribers need to pay $5 per month or around $30 per year.
  • Apple Arcade: To play the exclusive Apple Arcade games, interested people have to pay $5 per month or $50/per year.
  • Netflix Games: Netflix Games offers three plans for its subscribers, which are namely, Basic, Standard, and Premium. The monthly subscription charges are $9.99 per month, $15.99 per month and $19.99 per month respectively.

The simple answer to this, of course, is the value for money. Netflix Games, which comes at no extra cost (meaning you get games and your favourite movies and shows in one package), gives you access to over 40 exclusive games like Hextech Mayhem, Into the Dead 2: Unleashed, Oxenfree, Asphalt Xtreme and a bunch of other titles, some of which are tie-ins with popular franchises like Stranger Things. Apple Arcade works similarly with exclusive titles that you wouldn’t be able to get your hands on otherwise, although this includes a small monthly fee after the initial first month is free.

Finally, Google Play Pass, which is arguably the best deal here, gives you access to paid titles like Stardew Valley, Terraria, Star Wars: KOTOR, Old Man’s Journey, Thimbleweed Park, Limbo, and many others. Instead of paying the full price for these relatively costly titles, you could instead just pay a small amount towards the monthly service and get hundreds of games. Additionally, for free games covered by Play Pass, there are many special perks that only those with a subscription can have access to.

It all boils down to these services, despite slower starts in some cases, have managed to add a lot of content that is worth paying for. And in the case of something like Google’s Game Pass, you’re getting a lot of pricier titles for a more affordable price, with a very large game library and perks for being a member. In the case of Netflix Games and Apple Arcade, the exclusives are also pretty good and worth paying for.

Of course, it boils down to personal preference as some might prefer buying their games instead of paying for a service regularly since they do lose access if, at some point along the line, they decide to get rid of the service, however, these services do present a more economical option. All things considered, there are really not too many if any cons to one of these three at this point.

Final Thoughts

Those were the main points for why one of these gaming subscription services might suit you. Now trying these out is also one way to figure that out. Considering how cheap these are and the fact that Apple gives you the first month free and Netflix Games not charging you anything aside from what you pay for the actual Netflix subscription itself, checking them out yourself is pretty cheap and easy. All in all, Netflix, Google, and Apple have done a pretty good job at creating packages that are good options for players.
