The grand final of Vietnam Free Fire League (VFL) Series A 2021 Winter, formerly known as Arena of Survival, ended after some amazing battles among the teams, with Burst the Sky being declared as the champion. The entire event was filled with tense moments and unpredictability. BTS claimed the trophy by accumulating 128 points total, 11 points ahead of the runner-up HQ Esports. BTS was the champion of the previous season as well. So, the defending champion keeps their title secured for the second time in a row.
Besides the champion title and the massive amount, BTS qualified for the upcoming regional final of the esports event, the Asia Championship 2021. The 2nd-5th placed teams qualified for the play-in stage of the event. The top six received the ticket to VFL 2022 Spring.
VFL Winter 2021: BTS’s road to victory
The team started the final round with 10 points behind the runner-up HQ Esports. But consistency awarded the trophy to the team. BTS placed second in two matches with 11 kills points in both. A whopping 45 frags were taken by them with one BOOYAH. On the other hand, HQ Esports managed to hold second place with 117 points.
Hard luck for the team, they were the topper of the group stage. God Of Wolf (GOW) came up in the top three. Heavy is the only team to win two BOOYAHs in the final 6 matches. The team finished 4th.
VFL Winter 2021: Prize pool
Being the champion secured 910M VND ($40,000) to BTS’s pocket. Meanwhile, the 2nd placed team, HQ Esports, received 646M VND ($28,400) and the 3rd ranked team, God of Wolf, received 258 million VND ($11,400).
Final thoughts
Before the finals, the event started on August 20, featuring a massive 4,000,000,000 ₫ ($175,700) prize pool. Organized by Garena, the event is sponsored by Yomost. 18 teams qualified for the event to jump into a two-phase league play.
Now, BTS will represent their respective region on the regional stage. Besides Vietnam, this year’s tournament also has the presence of teams from Thailand, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and Chinese Taipei.
