D’Xavier crowned as PUBG Mobile (PMPL) SEA Championship Spring 2022 champions

After 3 days of nail-biting intensity and closely matched fights between teams, PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) southeast Asia (SEA) Championship Spring 2022 has finally ended, which saw the Vietnamese team D’Xavier crowned as the champions. Let us relive the whole journey of D’Xavier to the top and the distribution of the whole prize pool of the whole tournament.

PUBG Mobile (PMPL) SEA Championship Spring 2022: D’Xavier and their whole journey

The tournament kicked off with much excitement, due to it being the first international and official PUBG Mobile tournament being held in LAN or offline mode, since the world championship then known as PMCO. The tournament was held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia with a modest capacity audience.

But from Day 1 itself, Vietnamese representatives D’Xavier started to show their class as one of the top teams of PMGC Season 1 and rocketed into the lead with every other team below them scrambling for the rest of the spots. In the 3 days of play, D’Xavier held on to their lead without letting it slip from their hands at any given time. Additionally, some of the teams pitched as favorites to win the tournament or finish high regardless were rather disappointing.

One of them, Evos Reborn from Indonesia, has proved itself as one of the most consistent teams from their country in the past. Their fellow Indonesian team, ION Esports who came to the tournament as country champions, lost their grip and tumbled to the bottom spots as well. The Infinity, one of the favorites to win, grabbed only one chicken dinner and seemed out of shape. All in all, D’Xavier came in and snatched away the title of the PMPL SEA Spring Championship 2022 with their unreal show of consistency and mettle.

Prize Pool and Awards

First-placed D’Xavier took home a bag of $31,500, while runners-up Vampire Esports and 3rd placed RRQ RYU shared their spoils of $20,000 and $16,500 respectively. Every team received $500 for winning chicken dinner.

The MVP of the tournament was Nerpehko from RRQ RYU of Indonesia, who is currently in blistering form. The assaulter has shown his proficiency in decision-making in close-quarter fights and overall conduct. He also won a prize of $3000 for his achievement.

Final Thoughts

The tournament has been one of the two SEA Championships to be held this year. It will also possibly be a determining factor in the qualification of teams for the PMGC, the highest tier of competition in PUBG Mobile, BGMI, and Game For Peace Esports. Thus, teams should focus on themselves and work on their gameplay to come back stronger next time and stand a chance.
