Since the outbreak of COVID-19, all offline Fortnite gaming esports events have taken a sudden stop. Even after the number of cases dropped, Fortnite didn’t participate or host any offline events until now. Epic Games has finally confirmed a Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) Invitational 2022 which will be conducted later this year.
After so much delay Fortnite decided to conduct the offline series which aroused the loopers throughout the nation.
Players will compete for a massive prize pool in an in-person competition in North Carolina
This competition will take place at the Raleigh Convention Center in North Carolina on November 12 and 13, 2022. Fortnite has set a hefty winning prize for the winner which is a sum of $1,000,000. The players will be selected worldwide and they’ll compete in a single lobby. Epic Games hasn’t revealed much about the competition at the moment but it intends to share more as the dates draw on.
The tournament will be held keeping in mind the safety of the players and will follow health advisories to ensure athletes’ well-being. The announcement also clearly stated that the tournament might get postponed or rescheduled if public health trends changes or regional law and recommendations change at any time this year.
Epic Games has advised the anticipating players to keep their travel documents, including passports and vaccination certificates. These are the basic protocols since the outbreak of COVID-19 is a must for any travel. The documents are also required to participate in the FNCS Invitational without any complications.
Fortnite’s return to the offline event is a good sign for the game’s esports scene. Fortnite is going to be offline after quite a long time. The last offline event hosted by Fortnite was the Fortnite World cup in 2019. With this event, the community is anticipating information on FNCS 2022, as global restrictions lift.
