NetEase Games’ upcoming ocean adventure RPG Sea of Remnants is slowly moving closer toward launch in China, as the game has now opened fresh closed beta recruitment while also confirming a planned Q3 2026 release window in the region.
The update comes through the newly opened official pages for the game, where players from the region can now pre-register and apply for the upcoming “Dawn Test.”

Originally revealed by NetEase Games during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase last year, Sea of Remnants is being developed by Joker Studio, the same team known for Identity V. The game immediately grabbed attention because of its unusual comic-book-inspired art style mixed with stylized ocean exploration and pirate themes.
At its core, Sea of Remnants is an open-world ocean adventure RPG where players take control of an amnesiac sailor traveling alongside a mysterious girl while searching for lost memories. Throughout the journey, we will explore dangerous seas, strange islands, pirate cities, ruins, and massive creatures hidden across the world.
The game promises over 300 recruitable characters called “puppetfolk”, alongside multiple factions that react differently depending on your decisions. You can build relationships, make enemies, customize ships with weapons and parts, and assemble teams for turn-based combat and sea battles.
As for the release status of the game, Sea of Remnants has already received its Chinese publishing license, and NetEase now expects an official launch during Q3 2026. If you are from China, you can register for the test on the official website.
While an exact launch date is still unknown, the current target points toward a release sometime between July and September 2026 in China. There is currently no information regarding international beta tests or release timing yet, so keep an eye on the global website for details.
