Honor of Kings announces $15 million investment and a refined league system for its worldwide esports

Keep eyes on the 2025 plans, several things are coming!

Story Highlights
  • Honor of Kings will spend $15 million for esports this year.
  • Grassroots event will be more accelerated as community building is of core importance.
  • Positions are open for teams to join as partners.

Honor of Kings has announced a massive update on their esports roadmap for 2025. Unlike the previously announced roadmap, the game now adds more elements such as accessibility, regional expansion, and stability. James Yang, Senior Director of Global Esports at Level Infinite, came up with the updates and broke down everything on the Honor of Kings Invitational 2025 Season 3 stage.

The MOBA title will feature seven pro leagues in each region, three global tournaments, and ground-level events to bring the unsung heroes and amateur players into the limelight of the official leagues. Besides, the game will ensure stability, accessibility, and room for future growth.

Worldwide leagues and ground-level events will ensure more competition

The current esports roadmap of Honor of Kings offers three global tournaments. Here’s a list of them:

  • Honor of Kings Invitational Season 3
  • Honor of Kings World Cup (KWC)
  • HOK International Championship

On the other hand, seven pro leagues are working as the pipelines for these global events. These leagues span the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Major East, Major West, and Wildcard Kings League.

The game also focuses on ground-level events and campus championship programs to facilitate grassroots-level tournaments. These initiatives will not only build a foundation but also increase the players’ and viewers’ participation. Among the initiatives, Open Series and The Campus Series (KCS) are the two flagbearers of the title’s esports.

Honor of Kings esports aims at further stability and is expanding its footprints

Honor of Kings is a massive game in player count, but the game is still a rookie in the worldwide esports scene, other than China. James explained the importance of support from each end of the global community. “To help it grow into a major competitive scene, we need the continued support of the community, media, and fans,” James said.

While speaking of community engagements and events, James also pointed out the partner and non-partner team participation in the tournaments. Among the pro league events, most of the participant seats are filled by partner teams, leaving little room for the newcomers.

But James said that there are always rooms open to join as partners. He also pointed out the importance of these partner teams and how they helped in growing the title’s footprint worldwide. “Our current teams have invested significantly in the ecosystem, and unless major issues arise, they will continue to participate in upcoming seasons,” he said.

Level Infinte’s massive investment is the heart of Honor of Kings esports this year

To back all the planned activities to scale up the presence and the competition of Honor of Kings worldwide, Level Infinite announced a $15 million investment. The game did the same in 2024 as well. And now, the amount will be spent throughout the esports ecosystem, working as the heart.

Honor of Kings received a lot of praise and completed some successful events globally. While the current plan is to grow more by binding more communities and players from different parts of the world, the game is walking on the right track. The future, thus, is very promising for the game.
