KRAFTON unveils BGMI Showdown and International Cup, paving India’s path to the Global stage

For the first time, 3 Indian teams can earn individual slots in a Global Championship!

Story Highlights
  • In BGMI Showdown, 48 top teams will compete for a direct Global Championship slot, eight BMIC qualification spots, and ₹1 Crore prize pool.
  • In the BMIC LAN finals, India’s top 8 teams will face 4 elite squads each from Korea and Japan, with two Global Championship slots and ₹1 Crore prize pool.
  • Campus Tour 2025-2026 expands to Tier-2 cities, offering college tournaments and on-ground experiences for emerging esports talent.

KRAFTON India has unveiled the H2 2025 Esports Roadmap for BGMI, introducing two debut flagship competitions, BGMI Showdown (BMSD) and the BGMI International Cup (BMIC). Each comes with a prize pool of ₹1 Crore ($113k), offering qualification pathways for Indian teams into Global Championships.

KRAFTON plans to elevate Indian Esports with the upcoming BGMI tournaments

BGMI is bringing a landmark dual qualification structure for Indian Esports with BMSD and the BMIC. Karan Pathak, Associate Director – Esports of KRAFTON India, stated, “The BGMI Showdown, BGMI International Cup, and Campus Tour are steps on a much larger roadmap to elevate India’s standing in global esports.

BGMI Showdown (BMSD)

The BGMI Showdown (BMSD) kicks off this September 18 in Hyderabad, bringing together 48 elite squads drawn from BGIS, BMPS, and other approved third-party tournaments. Plus, this studio-format competition’s finals will begin from October 10 to 12, offering you a limited live-studio experience.

The best part is that the winners of this tournament will not only win the ₹1 Crore ($113k) but also a direct slot into the Global Championship. Plus, the top 8 teams will move on to the BGMI International Cup, which offers a clear path from national dominance to international recognition, which is great.

BGMI International Cup (BMIC)

India will host the inaugural BGMI International Cup from October 31 to November 2, which is a LAN event that solidifies the country’s place in the global esports ecosystem. As I already mentioned, this tournament will feature the top 8 Indian teams from BMSD alongside 8 squads from Korea and Japan.

With ₹1 Crore ($113k) prize pool and two Global Championship slots on the line, the BMIC represents the country’s readiness to be a true global esports hub. This excites me to come back to the game, as it also marks the first time that international teams will compete in India in such a high-stakes tournament.

Level up your esports game with BGMI Campus Tour 2025-2026

In addition to the two flagship Esports IPs, KRAFTON India will launch the BGMI Campus Tour 2025-2026 this October, expanding its reach beyond metro cities. This initiative aims to highlight Tier-2 cities and colleges, uncovering the next wave of competitive gaming talents.

If you’re an aspiring esports player, this is a really good opportunity as it offers a pathway from casual gaming to the national stage. Plus, building on the success of the first edition, the tour is expanding to new regions, letting you experience college tournaments combined with on-ground experiences.
