After the successful completion of the first World Championship of Mobile Legends, M1, Moonton is set for the second edition of the Mobile Legends World Championship, M2 with a prize pool of $300K along with the winning teams’ own branding and skins inside the game. We all enjoyed the custom animations of EVOS Legends skins from the last edition of the tournament and we are looking forward to some cool custom skins this year too.
Mobile Legends M2 World Championship
The tournament will be held in Singapore in the month of January 2021, with the group stage being taken place from 18-20 and the Playoffs will take place from January 22-24. The tournament will be organized by Singapore’s Cybersports along with the Online Gaming Association of Singapore and will have the support from the Singapore Tourism Board for bringing the players and teams from all around the world.
This year the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship will be showcasing 12 teams from all over the world and will be competing with each other from the group stage to the final playoffs for glory. Many pro teams couldn’t make it to the tournament this year like Gosu from the US, VEC from Vietnam, Onc Esports from the Philippines, Candy Comeback from Laos, and the Last year’s winners Evos Legends from the Philippines. Sadly enough this year EVOS legends will not be seen in the tournament defending their title.
Same for the Gosu team too as the NA and EU qualifiers were canceled due to the Corona Virus pandemic. Many fans from NA and EU region hated this decision as pro teams like Gosu and BTK prepare themselves for the whole year for this particular tournament only. But this decision from the devs made them unable to showcase their skills in front of the world.
Teams qualified for the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship
As of last year, 16 teams were qualified for the M1 edition of this world championship, but this year the number came down to 12 due to the Corona Virus pandemic. But like the last year, there are some pro teams with talented players to look for. Recently Moonton held a draw for the group phase to divide the 12 teams into four groups. The list of the participant teams in the MLBB M2 World Championship along with their players are:
Group A
Burmese Ghouls (Mayanmar)
Burmese Ghouls are the winners of the MPL MM championship and also were the fourth team to be called upon in the One Esports MLBB invitationals. They are one heck of an experienced team and is a tough challenge for the others.
RSG (Singapore)
Resurgence was the champions of season 5 and made promising growth over the years, this season they will try to bring back the trophy to their house.
Unique Devu (Russia)
This will the first time for them to enter into this tournament and we hope they will be successful in making a spot in this year’s M2.
Group B
Todak (Malaysia)
With a balance of fresh talent and experience, Todak is ready to roll out for the World title this year too. This will be their second time competing in the world championship and guess they will give a tough battle this year too.
Omega Esports (Philippines)
Omega Esports is currently ruling the ML spot in the Philippines and is a tough team to deal with.
Impunity KH (Cambodia)
After successfully showcasing the talents and skill of the players in the last year’s M1, this year they are back with loads of experience and tactics again.
Group C
Bren Esports (Philippines)
Bren Esports is one of the top teams of the Philippines and is the championship winner of the S6 Philippines. This will be their first world championship this year and set to give a tough challenge to the others.
Alter Ego (Indonesia)
Alter Ego is the top squad in the Indonesia region and is often known as a superteam. They were the runner ups of the MPL ID in season 6 and are ready to redeem their mistake in the M2 World Championship this year.
10s Gaming Frost (Japan)
10s Gaming Frost is the best team in Japan and was a tough challenge in the last year’s M1 tournament. This year they are back in the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship and we expect some drama again like last year.
Group D
RRQ Hoshi (Indonesia)
RRQ Hoshi is one of the top squads of Indonesia and is back to back champions of MPL Indonesia. As Evos Legends got eliminated in the first round of MPL ID this year, so RRQ Hoshi will be the one to watch out for this year.
EVOS SG (Singapore)
Ever since the Esport scene came into Mobile legends, Evos SG was one of the top teams in MPL MYSG. They have always been in one of the top spots in every MPL. Though their last season wasn’t really a great one, this year they were be fighting off the top.
Dreammax (Brazil)
This will the first time for Dreammax to play the world championship this year. They lack experience but is a good choice to keep an eye on them.
Mobile Legends M2 World Championship Schedule
Based on the group stage schedule, M2 will start in the morning on the first and second day as there are six matches. On the first day, all matches will only involve teams from Group A. Teams from Group C and D will compete the next day. Wednesday, January 20, marks the start of the second phase of the group stage. As such, the matches will begin in the afternoon, as only four matches will be played on that day. After the first two days of competition, only the top team in each group will qualify for the playoffs. Teams in the second and third place will collectively fight for the remaining four slots.
