With 12 days to go before Mobile Legends Professional League for Indonesia, MPL-ID is set to start with its ninth season. The battle between Onic, who will obviously aim to defend their throne, and the other 7 teams who desire to reign themselves as the champions of Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9 will start on the 18th of February, 2022 till the 24th of April, 2022.
Major changes have been done by eight teams in order to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. While RRQ focuses on regeneration by promoting new youngsters from RRQ sena, Aura Fire prepares to create another upset for big teams with their old roster led by Kabuki. Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9: Tournament Format
The tournament format will be divided into two phases, the first of which is the Regular Season and the second is Play-offs.
Regular Season
In the regular season, it will be held in double Round-Robin when each team will clash with each other two times. All the matches are Best of Three (Bo3) matches with the following rules:
- Winning team will gain 2 points if they manage to win the match in straight two games. (2-0)
- Winning team will gain 1 point if they manage to win the match in three games. (3-0)
- Losing team will lose 2 points if they lose the match in straight two games (0-2)
- Losing team will lose 1 point if they lose the match in three games (1-2)
Play-offs
The top 6 teams will proceed to the play-off rounds, where there will be hybrid elimination with the following rules:
- 3rd and 6th seeded teams will compete in round 1 (Single Elimination)
- 1st and 2nd seeded teams will receive a round by and will start in round 2 (Double Elimination)
- All match during play-off round are Best of 5 matches (Bo5) while the grand final will be best of 7 match (Bo7)
Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9: Schedule and Venue
Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9 will start on the 18th of February, 2022 until the 24th of April, 2022. The tournament will be held offline in MPL Arena Jakarta.
Week 1 (Best of 3)
- February 18th: GEEK vs RRQ (15:00, GMT+7), RBL vs BTR (17:30, GMT+7)
- February 19th: AE vs GEEK (13:00), ONIC vs RBL (15:30), BTR vs EVOS (18:00)

Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9: Prize Pool
For this season, there is $300,000 USD, which is the Prize Pool. It will be spread to the competing teams below:

Mobile Legends MPL-ID Season 9: Predictions
There will always be a surprise in MPL-ID Season 9, followed by the curse that the reigning champions will fail in the next season after they become a champion. So far, only RRQ has managed to win the MPL title back-to-back in Season 5 and Season 6. Therefore, the upcoming season will be difficult for Butsss and Co. to defend their title against other teams, that have been strengthening their teams. We believe that the big four will be filled by Onic, Evos, RRQ, and Bigetron. It is expected that RRQ will eventually take the throne, as they have a huge boost due to the return of their legend, the alien Lemon.
