Tencent recently announced its plan with esports for its major titles at the Tencent Esports Summit 2022 held in China. The heads of different departments in Tencent gave the announcements during the almost two-hour-long summit. Collaboration and new tournaments in Wild Rift announced at Tencent Esports Summit 2022
Wild Rift has already created a sustainable esports ecosystem in China. The professional Wild Rift League (WRL) and secondary league Wild Rift Tour (WRT) have built a complete league system by introducing promotion and relegation tournaments.
In the second half of 2022, Wild Rift esports will adhere to and accelerate the independent mobile esports event strategy, implement new approaches in the WRL entertainment experience, and open up and expand event cooperation resources on a larger scale.
Tencent also officially announced a new tournament called Ionian Cup which will be held in September. The new season of the Wild Rift League (WRL) will start in October. Apart from esports events, WRL will partner with OnePlus to launch the EventMachine Recycling Program to create a green event culture around the ecosystem.
Tencent also announced the establishment of the first official WRL players training camp and launched professional quality physical fitness programs for professional players. By regulating the ethics of the players, Tencent plans to establish good values and a healthy esports ecosystem.
An announcement of a major collaboration with Coca-Cola also came at the conference. On August 12 this year, Coca–Cola and Wild Rift will launch a co-branded hero mini-can in China.
More tournaments are coming to Peacekeeper Elite
Tencent announced a bunch of new tournaments for Peacekeeper Elite; the Chinese rebranded version of PUBG Mobile. Tencent gave new updates regarding the Peace Elite League at the conference. A remote broadcasting system was introduced for the league in 2023.
New tournaments, including National League, Streamer Championship, College Championship, All-Gamer Championship, City Championship, and more were also introduced at the conference. The conference also showed a small glimpse of PSI and PMGC. The hot battles of PSI will begin in September, while PMGC will return in November- January.
Major announcements made at Tencent Esports Summit 2022 regarding Arena Breakout
Tencent recently announced the global release of Arena Breakout. But the company shared some plans regarding its esports in China at the summit. Tencent announced the all-new Arena Breakout Pioneer series with a grand prize pool of $150,000.
The tournament will consist of three qualifying events with an offline finale event. The first tournament is already ongoing. The Names of some big organizations have already appeared on the scene, and more are expected in the future.
The other titles that were featured in the conference are Honor of Kings, Call of Duty Mobile, and Crossfire.
