Clash of Clans is one such game where plenty of troops are available for you to use. This allows you to try out new attack strategies and also implement new ideas. However, with the regular balance changes, some troops become the meta. To help you understand which troops are doing well in the current meta, we have crafted this Clash of Clans tier list.
This Clash of Clans tier list is in sync with the latest January 2026 balance changes. So make the best use of it to know which are the strongest troops in Clash of Clans right now!
Clash of Clans Troops Tier List: The best troops ranked
This Clash of Clans Troops Tier List should only be taken as a reference because different strategies and processes can yield different results for players, but it mostly works for the best.

This is slightly leaned towards the attack strategies, and I would even say this is not a must-follow by any means, since it is something we can call ‘official’. I suggest players not refuse to use any troops because, in combinations, they can have different troop compositions. The list is categorised as follows:
- SS Tier: Troops in this section are the best; their Overall performance and versatility are better than other troops in Clash of Clans.
- S Tier: The mentioned troops in this list are good, but not as good and versatile as the S+ tier.
- A Tier: In this tier, the roops mentioned are between the Best and Bad and are useful in some scenarios.
- B Tier: Troops in this tier are only good under limited conditions, and players cannot beat tough bases with them alone.
- C Tier: The troops given in this list are the least good, impossible to beat strong bases without SS, S, or A tier troops.

Best Meta Troops and Combinations for Clash of Clans
There is no exact one specific troop that is meta in Clash of Clans because of the reason that the army of one single troop getting a full swipe on a base is nearly impossible. I say Clash of Clans is all about troop combinations, so we’ll be providing you with the best combinations you can practice.
The most recent troops that debuted are Meteor Golem with the Town Hall 18 update and The Thrower in Town Hall 17 update. And since the arrival of TH18, Meteor Golem has become a meta for TH18 and TH17 attacks!
Meteor Golem fits in any team composition or attack strategies. Its tanky nature really helps in taking a lot of damage. The dps is also very good! So you’ll often come across attack strategies that involve Meteor Golem.
A combination of Meteor Golem and Furnace is very common now. So, try your own army compositions, and you end up with a very strong army. Other than that, Dragon attacks are still very strong at every Town Hall level!
For TH16, the Thrower combines the long-range capabilities of a wizard with a slower attack, but with tankier durability. Its high hit points allow it to survive hits that would typically eliminate other long-range troops, and it has been a great addition till now. So if you do not have access to Meteor Golem, Thrower is your best bet!

In the Home Village, one of the best higher Town Hall attacks is the Root Rider Valkyrie smash. This works very well starting Town Hall 15 to 18. It has multiple variants, so you have to figure out which one suits you the best, but the core composition remains the same: Root Rider, Valkyrie, and Healers.
The combination is a mix of Elixir and Dark Elixir; they both are top-tier troops. It is a high-reward attack that almost guarantees three stars for any base when executed properly.
The builder base update has been hot in terms of attack strategies, especially the Power PEKKA being a superior troop. Using all PEKKAs has been getting a high success rate for the players. Also, not to forget, the Baby Dragon is still one of the best troops available at the lower Builder Hall levels, so take a look at them too.
Clan Capital attacks vary a lot, so you can try out different strategies to get the best out of them. In the Builder Base, the Cannon Cart strategies are pretty effective and work amazingly well with a tank troop covering them with the Sneaky Archers helping to clean out the rest.
For defensive combinations in your Clan Castle, you can neglect troops that are not defensively suitable, and then proceed with one high HP troop paired with the rest.
