- Bonus change as per the battles, with caps at 3, 7, and 10 battles respectively.
Clash Royale and its March-April 2025 update is the first major update of the year, and of course, there are a lot of changes this time, mainly when it comes to rewards in battle. Just like you, I’m slowly getting around this new update as we are yet to fully digest the changes that have happened.
Since we are bidding goodbye to chests as Battle Rewards in Clash Royale, it is common to have confusion about what we will be getting as rewards. To explain everything, here’s my guide on Battle Rewards and how they work in Clash Royale.
Understanding Battle Rewards in Clash Royale
Battle Rewards: Lucky Drops, Crowns, and Random Items
Previously, we knew we used to have four chest slots, and as we win games, new chests get added. But now, Chest Queues, Timers, and Chest Keys are gone, so rewards are now instant. You no longer have to wait for chests to unlock; every battle grants rewards immediately.

The new Battle Rewards system includes three types of rewards. Lucky Drops are special rewards you get for your first three wins each day. Bonus Rewards can be either Random Cards or Gold, depending on the cards available in your current Arena.
Crowns are also earned as usual, helping with your Crown Chest and seasonal progression. So, majorly, the odds of rewards are pretty much the same, but if you are not a fan of Lucky Drops, well, this is surely bad news.
How are Battle Rewards distributed
Here’s how it works. For your first three wins each day, you’ll get Lucky Drops, Bonus Rewards, and Crowns. After that, your next seven wins will give you Bonus Rewards and Crowns. Once you pass ten wins in a day, you’ll continue earning Crowns for every battle you win.

To help you earn more Crowns, there’s also a Bonus Crowns system. For your first three battles each day, you’ll get five extra Crowns per battle. That adds up to 15 bonus Crowns daily, which helps speed up your progress in the game.
This system likely exists to test different reward distributions, meaning some of you might receive different variants than others.
What happens to my old Chests and Chest Keys
Since Chest Queues are removed, any chests you had waiting will be instantly opened, and the rewards will be added to your account.
Chest Keys will also be removed, but they won’t go to waste. Instead, each Chest Key will be converted into 5000 Gold. You can convert up to 30 Chest Keys, which means you can get up to 150,000 Gold from this conversion.

This update removes the wait times that used to slow down progress. If you ask me, this system will reward you whether you play a little or a lot. Now, you can focus on playing and improving your deck without delay.
