Supercell’s Clash Royale is one of the best strategy games available on mobile, and it has over nine years in the running of giving players a fun experience. The game brought us some amazing new features, such as Tower Troops and Card Evolutions, over the years, and among them is the Trade Token system.
This feature lets you trade duplicate or unwanted cards with other players in the game. There are several ways to earn Trade Tokens, and once you have them, you can put them to good use. In this guide, I’ll explain what Trade Tokens are, how to get them, and what you can achieve by using them in Clash Royale.
What are Trade Tokens in Clash Royale
Trade Tokens are a type of in-game currency in Clash Royale that allows you to trade cards with other players. They come in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary, matching the game’s card rarities. You can hold up to ten of each type at a time. Currently, Champion Trade Tokens are not available.
With trade tokens, you can exchange duplicate or unwanted cards with others in the community to complete your card collection for higher-level upgrades, as anything above level 11 requires a ton of gold and identical cards for any rarity.
Apart from the Champion cards, which you cannot trade, the number of cards you can trade per Token is given as follows:
- Legendary Token: 1 Legendary card
- Epic Token: 10 Epic cards
- Rare Token: 50 Rare cards
- Common Token: 250 Common cards
If you have maxed a card, you can offer it for trade by spending Gold equal to the card’s overflow price. The details are below.
- Common: 5 Gold per card (1,250 for the entire Common stack)
- Rare: 25 Gold per card (1,250 for the entire Rare stack)
- Epic: 100 Gold per card (1,000 for the entire Epic stack)
- Legendary: 7,500 Gold per card.
How to obtain Trade Tokens in Clash Royale
There are several ways to obtain Trade Tokens. You can earn them by completing challenges, reaching milestones on the Trophy Road, or purchasing them through special offers in the Shop.
1. In-game purchase
One way to obtain Trade Tokens is by purchasing them with real money from the Shop. They’re usually included in combo deals, card starter packs, or chest offers. These deals are often good value, especially for regular players who actively trade cards.
2. Via Events and Challenges
Events usually dish out plenty of rewards, and one way to go is to get them. The recently concluded “New Year, New Fire” event brought a good number of rewards, with 2 Common Trade Tokens, 2 Rare Trade Tokens, 1 Epic Trade Token, and 1 Legendary Trade Token.
For certain challenges, you can see the reward tiers indicating trade tokens, which you can get by achieving the required number of wins. Legendary tokens are very rare, and if there is a chance to get them via events, you should not pass on that opportunity.
3. Trophy Road rewards
Trophy Road offers another way to obtain more Trade Tokens. By accumulating a specific number of trophies in the game, you can unlock Trade Tokens as rewards on the Trophy Road. The most popular way is by winning the rewards through various events and challenges in the game.
4. Pass Royale rewards
Currently, the final way to acquire the tokens is by Pass Royale. When you reach certain tiers in the Pass Royale, you are rewarded with one Trade Token of each rarity. You can only obtain the Pass Royale Tier rewards from Free, Gold, or Diamond.
How to use Trade Tokens in Clash Royale
There are two ways you may use your trade tokens: by trading in the shop or via clan members. I’ll explain both steps to you.
1. Trading via the trader in Shop: You can use the trader to trade these cards. Cards are refreshed every 24hrs so you should keep in mind to visit the trader every day for your preferences.
2. Trading via Clan members: To do this, go to the game’s main menu and then select the “Trade” option.
- Select the card you want to get out of the four options available in the selection menu. You have to pick the cards of the same rarity, or else you won’t be able to trade.
- Now select the cards you offer from your inventory.
All that is left is to wait for the other players/clan members to approve your offer. If they approve, the trade tokens will be deducted from your account, and then the card will be added to your collection.
