FIFA Mobile 22: Reviewing the Bundesliga TOTS Players

Choose only from the best players!

Team of the Season is finally here in FIFA Mobile 22. One of the most popular events in the FIFA Mobile calendar recognizes the best performers from each league season. This year, we have an event packed with challenges, rewards, and of course, brand new cards. With so much choice available, picking the best option takes a bit of thinking. We’re here with the TOTS Player reviews, where we look at each of the FIFA Mobile 22 TOTS starters from the major leagues, with this time being Bundesliga, analyzing their playstyles, and detailing their pros and cons.

The third league of the FIFA Mobile 22 TOTS event is the Bundesliga. A selection of players was selected from the top flight of German football, and with a community vote, a squad was chosen. The European giants, Bayern Munich, won the league by 8 points this season, and have 5 representatives in this year’s FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS. The other 6 slots are distributed between 5 different clubs, with 2 to Bayer Leverkusen, and 1 each for Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, SC Freiburg, and Eintracht Frankfurt.

All those calculations. All that time. All that effort. It all comes down to this. Choose wisely!

FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS Players

Alphonso Davies (LB)

  • Overall: 94
  • Requirement: 28000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Balanced

Overview

Bayern Munich‘s talented LB put in several reputable performances throughout the last season. Davies made 31 appearances in all competitions for the German outlet, notching 5 assists and helping his team to a record 10th consecutive league title. The Canadian is known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability, which has often resulted in him being one of the more enjoyable cards to use in FIFA Mobile.

VSA

Davies is just about competent as a defender for VSA. His tackling usually works alright, and he is fairly strong too. However, Davies is very easy to stun with skill moves and he is slow to react too. He won’t make a significant difference to the VSA defense, which is fair enough, considering his strengths lie in his attacking skillset.

H2H

As expected, TOTS Davies feels very fluid with the ball and has bags of pace. It is satisfying to dribble with this card, though it’s worth noting that it doesn’t track back often. Having some sort of defensive cover would be a good idea. In addition, Davies’ final pass is accurate and reliable, although he does struggle with long-range passes.

Jeremie Frimpong (RB)

  • Overall: 94
  • Requirement: 28000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Reactions

Overview

Frimpong started the season well for Bayer Leverkusen, however, injuries dwindled his progress, meaning he ended his season in just game-week 26 of the Bundesliga. His initial performances have not gone unnoticed though, with EA rewarding the Dutchman with a FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS Starter card. Frimpong is known for his exceptional speed and dribbling, as well as his ability to play a killer pass into the box.

VSA

Frimpong is both short and small in build, so he doesn’t have a presence on the pitch. Because of that, he doesn’t offer anything as a defender in VSA. He is easily stunned and can just be walked over most of the time. However, this card is probably not intended as the fix to a leaky defense, since it’s his attacking stats that make up his high overall.

FM Stats Jeremie Frimpong FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

H2H

This card feels very fast and fluid and is just generally enjoyable to use. However, due to that lack of presence, Frimpong is easily and frequently dispossessed. The 3* skill move rating limits certain useful moves, but at least the Roulette is still available. Frimpong’s passing is also good, and his defensive support in this mode is sufficient too.

Evan Ndicka (CB)

  • Overall: 95
  • Requirement: 42000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Defending

Overview

Ndicka made 44 appearances for his club in the 2021/22 campaign. He helped solidify his defense, whilst also contributing to the attack too. The Frenchman recorded an impressive 4 goals and 4 assists, which is more than expected of a defender. Ndicka was a key player in Bayer Leverkusen‘s charge for 3rd place, and at just 22 years old, he has a huge career ahead of him.

VSA

Ndicka is a very strong and difficult player to beat. He is a formidable defender and can be tough to get past. It is difficult to stun him and he is quick to react should he be dribbled past. His tackles are well-timed, and he can shake attackers well with his strength. Ndicka’s positioning is impressive, and he is able to jump in front of shots too. Overall, he is a very complete defender for VSA.

H2H

This card performs very well in H2H as well. His speed is great over long distances, however, his acceleration is slightly low and this causes him to fall behind in sprints. Other than that, Ndicka is still a useful CB. He fits into a 2-CB partnership and can play on the outside of a 3-CB line as well.

Thomas Muller (CAM)

  • Overall: 95
  • Requirement: 42000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Dribbling

Overview

Muller was on it again this season, hitting goals and supplying assists like nothing. In this campaign, he hit the back of the net 13 times and set up a further 25 goals for his teammates. The German international participated in 30% of his team’s goals, meaning he was one of the key engines that drive Bayern Munich to their 10th successive league title.

VSA

Muller’s great finishing comes in handy in VSA. His shots are powerful both from inside the box and from long-range. Whilst on the ball, he feels fluid and quick on the turn. A 4* weak foot does the job, but a 5* rating would definitely have been better. Similarly, the 3* skill rating isn’t convenient but isn’t too big of a deal. All things considered, this card is a great goal-scorer, which makes it ideal for this mode.

H2H

Because of his quality passing, Muller is an excellent CAM option for VSA. His through balls and shot passes are carefully-weighted and accurate. His long-range passes are slightly inconsistent though, and this combined with the low pace means this card doesn’t suit the counter-attack playstyle. However, Muller is perfect as the CAM that operates around the box, creating and scoring goals, due to his exceptional passing and finishing.

Moussa Diaby (RM)

  • Overall: 96
  • Requirement: 67000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Short Passing

Overview

Diaby had a sensational season with Bayer Leverkusen, and his performances are attracting hefty attention from several top European clubs. At 22 years of age, Diaby registered 17 goals and another 14 assists for the German outlet in all competitions. The Frenchman is one of the wingers to look out for in Europe, and will no doubt be looking to further up his game in the coming years.

VSA

The 3* weak foot is quite a big let-down for a card that would otherwise be quite decent. Diaby has a decent shot, not as good as hoped, but still quite powerful and somewhat accurate. His speed and movement are the main standouts, this card is really fast and smooth. However, the dribbling can only get the player so far, and it’s usually the weak foot that ends up ruining the chance.

FM Stats Moussa Diaby FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

H2H

Because of the phenomenal pace and dribbling technique, this card plays much better in H2H than in VSA. TOTS Diaby is great fun to use and is really tricky to close down. Since his passes and shots are of a good standard, Diaby is reliable in the final 3rd too. There are times when he feels one-dimensional though, as the only way to make something happen with this card is by cutting in on the left. An experienced opposition player may be able to effectively lock down Diaby by forcing him onto his right, where he is then pretty much hopeless. Nonetheless, this is an enjoyable card to use, though perhaps not sustainable at higher ranks.

Joshua Kimmich (CDM)

  • Overall: 96
  • Requirement: 67000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Vision

Overview

The force of Bayern Munich would not be the same without Kimmich in the midfield. The 27-year-old played 39 times for his side, tallying 3 goals and 12 assists in that time. Kimmich is well-known for his ability to orchestrate play with his passes, and his deadly control over set-pieces.

VSA

Kimmich isn’t seen much on the opposition defense in VSA, likely due to the High/Medium work rates. When he does crop up though, he is a fairly tough player to get past and is pretty strong despite the small build. His tackling is decent, and he seems to move quite quickly as well. Overall, Kimmich isn’t really a defensive-minded CDM, but he is still an impressive defender, even though it may not seem like it on the pitch.

FM Stats Joshua Kimmich FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

H2H

This is where Kimmich’s best stats come to light. This card has fantastic passing, especially at long-range, which allows for some rapid counter-attacks. He feels quite smooth on the ball too and has a reasonably swift turn. Kimmich often pushes up into the attack too, which is fine when in possession, however, he leaves a lot of space behind him which can be damaging if not covered for. Playing this card as a lone CDM is not recommended. Preferably, he should be partnered with a defensive CDM that stays back, allowing Kimmich to do his thing.

Erling Haaland (ST)

  • Overall: 97
  • Requirement: 111000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Finishing

Overview

Haaland’s season felt incomplete, with injuries halting his progress at intervals throughout the last year. However, in the games he did play, he looked unstoppable – he scored 29 goals and assisted a further 8 in just 30 appearances in all competitions. The Norweigan will play in the Premier League next season, and the £67 million moves to Manchester City have already been confirmed. It will be exciting to see what he goes on to achieve in an already strong team.

VSA

It’s the weak foot rating that lets down this card, which would have been fantastic for VSA otherwise. Haaland has an incredible shot that is very powerful and accurate at any range. He could finish any chance well with his left foot, but his right foot is awful, and usually throws the chance away. On the ball, Haaland is definitely quite slow and stiff when turning. Since his finishing can be so good though, that is often enough to get the goals, which is what matters at the end of the day.

FM Stats Erling Haaland FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

H2H

Haaland is slightly limited in H2H – he specializes so much in finishing that the other parts of his game take a significant hit. His dribbling is alright, but he tends to take frequent heavy touches. In addition, he turns like a truck and takes a while to control the ball when receiving it. Haaland is a decent option for the Target Man role though since he has tons of strength, as well as a massive physical build on the pitch. However, it’s the one-footed nature of the card and the clunky movement which make it difficult to use. Combining Haaland with a more mobile striker may also be something worthwhile.

Manuel Neuer (GK)

  • Overall: 97
  • Requirement: 111000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Reflexes

Overview

Bayern Munich was in control of the Bundesliga once again, and was one of the toughest defenses in the country, thanks to another solid campaign by Manuel Neuer. The side kept 11 clean sheets and conceded just 1.1 goals per game in the Bundesliga, both tallies which no other team could beat. This was Neuer’s 11th season with his current team, and he will no doubt be regarded as one of the greats of his position.

VSA

Judging by the stats, TOTS Neuer looks outstanding. In reality, though, he is just average, as are most keepers in this year’s edition of FIFA Mobile. Just like other keepers, Neuer struggles with the usual power shots and finesse shots. He does tend to rush out a bit, but that rarely makes a difference, especially against better players in VSA.

FM Stats Manuel Neuer FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

H2H

The main difference-makers for keepers in H2H is the quality of distribution, and this card certainly has that edge at least. Neuer has accurate drop-kicks which will fall nicely to even distant teammates. He also has the Long Thrower trait which may come in handy for quick counter-attacks after a corner for example. All in all, this isn’t the card that breaks the trend of average goalkeepers, but he does stand out a bit because of his ball-playing ability in H2H.

Nico Schlotterbeck (CB)

  • Overall: 98
  • Requirement: 163000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Tackling

Overview

Schlotterbeck had a stellar season with Freiburg and looked like one of the best CBs in the league at points. He helped his team to 10 clean sheets – the most they’ve managed in the last 6 seasons – and a league finish of 6th, which is the club’s best performance since the 2012/13 campaign. Unfortunately for Freiburg fans, Schlotterbeck will move to Borussia Dortmund next season, which will no doubt be a big step in a very promising career.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

FM Stats Nico Schlotterbeck FIFA Mobile 22 Bundesliga TOTS
Image via Electronic Arts

Schlotterbeck is the complete CB for VSA and H2H. Speed, precise tackling, fast reactions – this card has it all. Even just by looking at the stats, it is clear that it is very tough to get past this card in VSA. Because of how complete he is, he can function anywhere on the back line, in either a back-three or back-two. It’s worth noting that he does seem to occasionally be dragged out of position a bit. Other than that, this is probably one of the best options in his position in the game.

Christopher Nkunku (CAM)

  • Overall: 98
  • Requirement: 163000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Dribbling

Overview

Nkunku was unstoppable this year. The tally of 35 goals and 20 assists in all competitions really speaks for itself. At 24 years of age, the Frenchman has been running an average of just under 1.1 goal contributions per appearance, which is immense. RB Leipzig would be nowhere near where they are now without Nkunku, who contributed to 49% of his team’s goals.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

FM Stats Christopher Nkunku
Image via Electronic Arts

This card fits in perfectly for both VSA and H2H, and there are a few ways in which this could be improved. Nkunku excels in all the criteria for an attacking player; he has pace, quality finishing, accurate passing, and brilliant dribbling. A 5* weak foot would have completed the set but regardless, this is still easily one of the best CAMs available and could slot into any playstyle without any issues.

Robert Lewandowski (ST)

  • Overall: 98
  • Requirement: 173000 TOTS Community Points
  • Skill Boost: Shooting

Overview

It’s the era of dominance for Robert Lewandowksi, who just doesn’t seem to rest. This time, he hit 35 goals in 34 Bundesliga matches, with another 3 assists on top of that. If that wasn’t enough, he scored another 13 times in just 10 matches in the UEFA Champions League. Lewandowksi is currently linked with a move elsewhere, which is understandable since this has been his 12th season in Germany.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

FM Stats Robert Lewandowski
Image via Electronic Arts

Lewandowski is an elite finisher who will most definitely bring countless goals in any game mode. He can basically score from anywhere on the pitch, and that’s just the starting point. This card has great control over the ball and can dribble past defenders surprisingly well. Furthermore, he brings a strong presence both on the ground and in the air. A 5* weak foot would ultimately complete this card but even despite that, this is still a top-level striker.
