5 players to transfer in for the next gameweeks!

After the end of FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 1, there has been a lot of share of points with the premium assets of Mohammed Salah and Bruno Fernandes delivering huge points. Apart from the popular picks, there are quite a number of players, who has impressed over the weekend with points and underlying stats. The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. In this FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 2 Watchlist, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

FPL Fantasy 2021/22 Gameweek 2 Watchlist

1. Paul Pogba (Midfielder) – 7.6 million

Manchester United began their season in style with a thumping 5-1 win over Leeds United which saw Paul Pogba pull the strings from an attacking left midfield role, claiming four assists. This has started immediate questions to those players, who have already tripled up on Manchester United. No midfielder has produced as many as his five attempted assists during the gameweek. Only Kieran Tierney was able to better that tally across all positions.

In addition to his creativity, the Frenchman also went close to score, missing a big chance created by Mason Greenwood, who also had a lively game. Pogba’s 0.27 xG stats was the second-highest figure amongst his teammates, only behind hattrick hero Bruno Fernandes as this was a United side without Jadon Sancho. With the services of Cavani or Martial to resume soon and new signing Raphael Varane joining the squad, it will be a key for Pogba for social transitioning to that attacking 4-3-3 formation.

2. Mason Greenwood (Midfielder)- 7.5 million

As long as Cavani is out, Greenwood will keep on continuing his presence on the field. Although, being listed as a midfielder in FPL, in real-life, he is a versatile forward. He can play through both the wings or as a number 9. We have already have seen his phenomenal performance against Leeds United in Gameweek 1. He had linked up very nicely with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in the game, creating few good chances.

Greenwood has fired three shots, one of them was from inside of the box, and scored one goal with a 0.31 xG figure. United’s next four games are against Southampton, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, and West Ham which could turn to be a good run for Red Devils. On the other hand, Greenwood is a midfielder in FPL, therefore, will get an extra 1 point for each scored goal and a clean sheet kept by Manchester United.

3. Said Benrahma (Midfielder) – 6 million

West Ham came from behind to beat Newcastle in a six-goal thriller on Sunday where Mikhail Antonio and Said Benrahma carried forward their impressive pre-season form to earn double-figure returns. The pair ranked joint top amongst teammates with tallies of three shots in open play and 6 touches in the opposition’s box. Only Callum Wilson had managed more of either, during the match whilst Antonio had a great game.

Antonio was denied from the penalty spot. Hammers have now missed their last two penalties with Declan Rice failing to convert the one against West Brom at the end of last season. So there’s a possibility that Benrahma could now be given the chance to step up and take the next one. With his impressive record on penalties in the past, he has scored all four of his penalties for Brentford in the 2019-20 Championship Campaign. He has a good track record, converting six out of six penalties throughout his career, which opens up a new avenue for fantasy points.

4. Heung-Min Son (Midfielder)- 10 million

Another player who was able to maintain his pre-season form was Heung-Min Son, who found the breakthrough goal in a 1-0 win over Man City in the absence of Harry Kane. The South Korean, led the line, occupying an out-of-position forward role and it was a little bit more selfish than we used to see taking a game-high total of 5 shots. In fact, only Adama Traore and Jamie Vardy fired more attempts during the gameweek, each with six.

There were still doubts over Kane’s future. Of course, it casts doubts over Son’s role. But, those next three fixtures look incredibly appetizing either way, particularly, the home meeting with Watford in Gameweek 3, where he looks set to rival Bruno Fernandes for the captain combat. Up next, there is a trip to Nuno Espírito Santo’s former club of Wolves. Although, it is worth noting that they have recorded the second-lowest expected goal-conceded figure in Gameweek 1, with only Chelsea faring better.

5. Richarlison (Forward) – 7.5 million

Available at 7.5m, Richarlison is a good option to look for. He has netted one goal and provided one assist against Southampton at home. During his 88 minutes on the pitch, the Brazilian has created three chances with an expected assist ratio of 0.48 and an xG figure of 0.33.

Everton has a quite smooth fixture up next for 5 game weeks, which includes Leeds (away), Brighton (away), Burnley (home), Aston Villa (away), and Norwich (home). Looking at his form and Everton’s next fixtures, he is the 3rd highest player to transfer in. Around 250K managers have already transferred him to their squad and his price is expected to go up very soon.
