The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. All the managers are trying to stabilize their teams with suitable options before the price hikes. In this FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 5 Watchlist, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

Following the Michail Antonio sending off against Southampton there are two potential replacements included for the West Ham forward should you want to replace. The fixture swings for Leeds and Wolves are also firmly on the radar.

1. Patrick Bamford (Forward) – 7.9 million

Liverpool was utterly dominant in their 3-0 win over Leeds beating them 30 to 9 on shots and 5 to 0 on big chances but it was Patrick Bamford who was the most threatening for the away side. His 0.35 expected goals figure trailed only Salah and Mane during the match. The 28-year-old was twice denied by Allison once after Raphinha had picked him out inside the six-yard box and later with an audacious chipped effort from just past the halfway line.

With 10 shots inside the box. Over the opening four gameweeks, Bamford ranks behind only Lukaku Calvert-Lewin, Jimenez, and Antonio amongst forwards. Tallies of 11 shots, 2 big chances, and 1 big chance created each ranked joint top with Raphinha amongst teammates. Leeds hasn’t quite recaptured the fearless attacking displays of last season ranking 14th for expected goals so far but they have the best pictures of any side over the next six games with which to improve.

Additionally, with Bamford, Raphinha is a player whom you should keep a close eye on. Solely based on a very favorable fixture run, Leeds attackers are touted to be producing regular attacking returns in the upcoming gameweeks. And who better to target other than the famous duo of Bamford and Raphinha.

2. Raul Jimenez (Forward) – 7.4 million

Still yet to get off the mark since his long-awaited return to action, Raul Jimenez recorded his first two big chance involvements of the season against Watford this weekend. Nelson Semedo flopped his lines after being put clean through on goal with a clever back-heel from the Mexican before Jimenez went close to scoring himself heading just wide of the post from the edge of the 6 yards box.

Over the opening four gameweeks, his tallies of 13 shots with 12 from inside the box each ranked second only to Michael Antonio amongst forwards. No forward has offered as many as his 12 attempted assists while his 1.07 expected assist figure can only be beaten by Saint-Maximin, Antonio, and Gabriel Jesus. Despite some tricky opening fixtures, Wolves rank amongst the top four teams for expected goals this season trailing only West ham Man City, and Liverpool. Remember, they don’t face another big six side until gameweek 15.

3. Ismaila Sarr (Midfielder) – 6.0 million

Listed as a midfielder, Ismaila Sarr, plays the role of a right-winger for Watford. With an average of 3.75 FPL points per game, the Senegalese International has taken a total of 8 shots and 6 of them were from inside of the box with an expected goal figure of 0.11 (xG). He has also created 9 big chances with an expected assist figure of 0.14 (xA). Additionally, he will be on penalty duties that will add value to his tally.

The numbers might not look so impressive to the managers to consider him but upcoming fixtures for Watford are quite favorable and that includes Norwich, Newcastle, and Leeds. Moreover, the defenses Watford has faced to date are comparatively stronger than average. Therefore, if a manager is thinking to use his wildcard in gameweek 7/8 then I. Sarr is a player to consider for the time being.

So, if you are looking for an alternative for Saïd Benrahma from your team then Raphinha will be the most logical long-term choice for your squad. But if you are a little shy of .5 million and need a bit of differential, Sarr can be a bold choice.

4. Conor Gallagher (Midfielder) – 5.6 million

With an average of 8.66 FPL points/game, Gallagher suddenly becomes a popular name after a spectacular show against Tottenham and two previous matches. During the last 3 gameweeks (he didn’t feature against Chelsea), the Englishman has amassed a total of 10 shots, 7 of them was from inside of the box, and 4 shots on target with an expected goal figure of 0.8 (xG). He has also created 7 big chances, more than any other teammates, with an expected assist figure of 0.28 (xA). In addition, he is also the set-piece taker of Crystal Palace.

Looking at the upcoming fixture of Crystal Palace, which is not very smooth, they will face Liverpool up next and followed by Leicester on gameweek 7 and Arsenal on gameweek 8. However, if Gallagher can hold his tempo and continue to perform, then he is definitely a player to watch and a player to consider in the near future when the fixture swings for Crystal Palace after gameweek 9.

He has been getting involved for a Crystal Palace side whom you don’t expect to be getting this many chances. He can be a great prospect as a future asset but do consider your other options before taking a punt on him.

5. Nelson Semedo (Defender) – 4.9 million

It was Fernando Marçal who grabbed the headlines with assists for both goals against Watford but Nelson Semedo‘s performance shouldn’t go unnoticed. No defender took more than his 3 shots during the gameweek all of which came from inside the box with 2 of them deemed big chances missed. The right wing-back took five touches in the opposition’s penalty box more than any teammate and joined top with Ismaïla Sarr during the match.

Over the first four gameweeks, his total of 11 touches in the opposition’s box trails only Cancelo and Alexander-Arnold amongst defenders. Only James Tarkowski compared to his 0.82 expected goals figure. Wolves have conceded an average of just 0.67 expected goals per game this season with only Brentford and Man City faring better. Only Man United and Man City have conceded fewer than their 5.5 shots in the box per game.
