Beat the boss and win exciting rewards!

Genshin Impact recently released version 3.6 packed with some fruitful content including a new Sumeru Weekly Boss battle that ties to Nahida’s storyline. As of the current Version 3.6, Baizhu and Kaveh are the only playable characters that would require the materials dropped from the boss. Here is an in-depth guide to beating the Guardian of Apep’s Oasis Boss in Genshin Impact.

How to unlock and locate the Guardian of Apep’s Oasis Boss in Genshin Impact

In order to unlock and have access to the Boss, you have to be in Adventure Rank 40. Additionally, players would have to first complete some of the prerequisite Sumeru Archon quest-line in addition to Nahida’s first Story Quest ‘Sapientia Oromasdis Act I’. Afterward, you have to play through Nahida’s second Story Quest Sapientia Oromasdis Act II ‘Homecoming’. The boss is located in the Desert region, it is recommended that players first unlock the Desert of Hadramaveth sub-region and the nearby Teleport Waypoint in order to have easy access to the boss.

How to Beat Guardian of Apep’s Oasis in Genshin Impact

Warden of the Last Oasis – First Phase

The boss inflicts Dendro damage and Physical damage onto your active character and can do surprise attacks once it is under the ground. In the First Phase, the boss will deal only with Physical attacks. Additionally, Apep’s attacks in the first phase are mostly close range with a few long-ranged attacks. If players cannot bring themselves a Shielder or Healer and are having difficulty avoiding the attacks, then you can simply i-frame them on time.

  • Emerging Strike – The creature submerges underground and resurfaces at the player’s position, using its front limbs to swipe and cause AoE physical damage.
  • Body Sweep –  Apep rotates its whole body to cover a wide range, causing AoE physical damage.
  • 4-Part Combo – Executes a sequence of moves, including a swipe, a slam, a sweep, and another slam, dealing AoE physical damage that amounts to varying attack power. This combo has the potential to end prematurely after the second part or begin from the second part.
  • Remote Crusher – The creature inserts all four of its limbs into the ground, then pulls them out at the player’s position and proceeds to slam them down in succession, with each limb dealing AoE physical damage. Another mid-range attack occurs once the player is away from its AoE.
  • Triple Slam – Appears in the middle of the arena and pounds the ground three times, causing AoE physical damage equal to varying attack powers. Additionally, each slam sends out a barrage of spiky orbs that may target the player and inflict physical damage. This occurs when the player is at mid-range from the boss.
  • Tail Sweep – In the event that the player is positioned behind its long tail, the creature employs its tail to deliver two swipes, causing AoE physical damage.

The boss slithers into the ground mostly when the player is out of its area of attack, which is why it is recommended that you attack the boss in close-range to effectively and quickly finish the job.

Challenge of the Heart of Oasis – Revitalizing Phase

After the first phase of the battle is over, the challenge of the Revitalizing Phase will begin. In this stage, players will have to fight to protect the ‘Heart of Oasis’. There will be a constant influx of monsters that will spawn around the Heart of Oasis, in which you would have to defeat these enemies in order to advance the revitalization process.

On the other hand, when the enemies attack the Heart of Oasis, the revaluation process will decrease. If it reaches zero then the Challenge will fail, and the player will then be forced to re-do the whole boss fight again.

Warden of Oasis Prime – Final Phase

In the final phase of the boss fight, Apep will deal Dendro damage to your active character. The attack patterns in the final phase are mostly close-range, although there is one particular attack that deals very high amounts of damage that can kill your active character if you are not shielded. Except for the ‘Aftershocks of the Apocalypse’ attack, the other move-sets can easily be dodged by timing the i-frames.

  • Emerging Strike – Dives underground and resurfaces at the player’s position, then employs its body to deliver a sweep attack, causing area-of-effect Dendro damage.
  • Triple Airstrike – Designates a wide area on the ground and invokes elemental energy to strike thrice, inflicting area-of-effect Dendro damage that amounts to varying attack power, respectively.
  • Helix Shower – Summons numerous double helix-shaped projectiles and launches them at the player, with each projectile causing Dendro damage.
  • Double Swipe – If the player is nearby, the creature employs its body to swipe twice, resulting in area-of-effect Dendro Damage.
  • Aftershocks of the Apocalypse  – The creature executes an Emerging Strike to return to the center of the arena, after which it repeatedly jumps up and down, causing a gradually expanding area of the ground to be affected by Dendro and inflict rapid damage over time.

During this time, the creature also generates three Shields of Revival’s Hymn. It then unleashes an extremely powerful finisher attack, dealing Dendro damage across the entire arena. Players who remain inside a Shield of Revival’s Hymn will be immune to damage from both the floor’s damage-over-time effect and the finisher attack.

The boss has a standard 10% Resistance to all Elements and Non-Elements except Dendro where it is at 70%. As such, it is not recommended to bring a Dendro-focused team with a Dendro Main DPS. Dendro-related Elemental reactions on the other hand can be present at the party. As the boss does fast attacks and close-range shots, it is recommended to bring a Healer (Bennett, Kokomi, Shinobu, etc) or Shielder (Zhongli, Noelle, etc) to the party.

A crowd control character would be advisable for the Revitalizing Phase as the small funji enemies can be grouped together easily and quickly (Kazuha, Venti, Sucrose, etc). Aim to build a team with an AoE-Target DPS character in addition to a Support character that can deal AoE damage for the Fungis (Raiden Shogun, Tartaglia, etc).
