Genshin Impact Yaoyao Guide: Skillsets, playstyle, best builds, and more

Know everything there is to know about Yaoyao!

Genshin Impact has finally released a long-awaited and pre-established character, Yaoyao, in Version 3.4. Yaoyao is shown to be an amazing Dendro unit to pull as she provided many Support capabilities in different variations of Dendro-related Team Comps (Burgeon, Quicken, Spread, etc). Yaoyao is an easy-to-build character and very F2P friendly. This guide will discuss all the information about Yaoyao in Genshin Impact along with the best artifacts, best weapons, talent materials, team comps, and more.

Genshin Impact Yaoyao guide: Character Information and Description

Yaoyao is a 4 Star Dendro Polearm character that was seen in early datamined characters and was rumoured to be released in future patches. She is in many promotional Genshin Impact arts and is talked about in other characters’ voice lines. Yaoyao’s master is the ‘Streetward Rambler’ and she is their youngest disciple. She is also Xiangling’s junior and is currently under the care of Ganyu. Yaoyao is described to be a sweet and caring little girl who acts very mature for her age.

Genshin Impact Yaoyao: Playstyle and Skillset

Yaoyao’s main Playstyle is using her Elemental Skill the most in Support team comps. Her Yuegui throws White Jade Radishes at enemies dealing Dendro DMG and also at any active character around its AoE to heal them. Yaoyao acts as both a Dendro healer and also a Dendro applicator. Her Yuegui can be summoned and used off-field so she can easily be switched to other characters. For her Talents, this should be the order of priority: Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack. Refer to our article for a complete guide to Yaoyao’s abilites, skillset and playstyle.

Constellations to use in the game

Yaoyao is one of the first 4-star units that we have seen for a while that does not depend on her Constellations. From all the 4 stars we got so far, many of them are practically useless without having their Constellations (For e.g- Faruzan at C6, Gorou at C6, Sara at C6, and Layla at C2). Yaoyao’s kit is viable at C0 and hence you do not need to pull insistently for her cons. Players can refer to the following article to prove it.

Genshin Impact Yaoyao Guide: Best Artifact Builds

Yaoyao is a flexible Dendro unit that can use many variations of Artifact sets depending on how you are building her character. The top 3 picks of 4-piece Artifact Sets would be:

  1. Deepwood Memories
  2. Tenacity of the Millilith
  3. Instructor

If 4-piece sets are too difficult to farm, then there are many 2-piece variations that you can use for Yaoyao which involve with providing her EM, ER, Dendro DMG Bonus, HP and Healing Bonus. As for Artifact Stats, it entirely depends on your build but the most popular choice is to stack her with HP, ER and EM for maximum efficiency of her kit. Refer to this article for a more in-depth guide on Yaoyao’s best artifact builds.

Best Weapons to use

For weapon options, Yaoyao has an assortment of them with most of them being F2P-friendly weapons. Giving her 5 Star Weapons is not recommended as it may prove to be wasteful on Yaoyao and can be given to DPS characters instead. For 4 Star options, some popular and notable ones are:

  • Favonius Lance (BiS weapon)
  • Prototype Starglitter (Craftable Option)
  • Moonpiecer (Another Craftable weapon)
  • Dragonspine (For triggering Dendro reactions)

As seen above, Yaoyao’s main stat priority would be the ones that have ER% and EM. Attack-related weapons only matter if Yaoyao is built as a DPS. Favonius Lance is the best option for Yaoyao given that it has a high ER% and the passive can help with the team’s energy needs. For a more complete guide to the weapons, here is an article regarding Yaoyao’s Best Weapons in Game

Genshin Impact Yaoyao Guide: Best Team Compositions

For team comps, Yaoyao can work and provide good support and utilities in different types of Dendro-related team comps. Yaoyao can act as both a driver of Elemental reactions and a healer in the party. She works especially well in double Dendro teams where she provides Dendro resistance shred and Dendro resonance. Some popular and great team comps include:

  1. Aggravate Team
  2. Hyperbloom Team
  3. Bloom Team
  4. Burgeon Team

Material Requirements for Ascension and Level-Up for Yaoyao in Genshin Impact

Yaoyao is a Dendro character that has been released recently during the Sumeru patch. As such players would need to unlock some of the Sumeru regions in order to farm for her materials. Thankfully, since she is a Liyue character, some of Yaoyao’s materials can be found in Liyue. Here is a complete article of Yaoyao’s Ascension and Material Farming Guide.

Final Thoughts

Genshin Impact has so far introduced a vast amount of Dendro characters over the course of Version 3.0 and further. Many of these have proved to be very amazing units to have in your roster due to Dendro itself being such an amazing Element to use with high damage multipliers due to the Dendro-related Elemental reactions. As such it is no surprise that Yaoyao would fall into such a category of being an amazing Dendro support and an overall great 4 Star character that we have seen so far.
