What are Wild Animals in Heartopia
Wild Animals in Heartopia are adorable wildlife that live throughout the town and surrounding regions. Unlike cats and dogs, which you eventually adopt, wild animals remain part of the environment. However, they are far from decorative.
These animals rely on feeding troughs scattered across Heartopia. And when you discover a trough and place food inside, you begin forming a bond with that animal. Over time, consistent care unlocks interactions, playful animations, and valuable rewards.

Currently, Heartopia features eight wild animals:
- Capybara
- Deer
- Panda
- Sea Otter
- Alpaca
- Fox
- Bunny
- Ferret
Each animal prefers specific foods and weather conditions. Therefore, feeding them correctly accelerates friendship progress. As a result, knowing what each animal likes makes a huge difference. Although animal care is not listed as an official hobby, it still feels like one. After all, few things match the joy of seeing a well-fed panda.
How to Unlock Animal Care in Heartopia
Before you can feed wild animals, you must unlock Animal Care. Unlike other features unlocked through the tutorial and main quest, Animal Care does not automatically appear during early gameplay. Instead, players need to manually activate it.

To do this, open the Town Guide menu and accept the Animal Care Quest. Once the quest begins, you will receive a call from Annie, the NPC responsible for animal care. She explains how wild animals survive, why they need help, and how feeding troughs work.
Afterward, she tasks you with locating a trough and feeding one animal. Complete this simple objective, and Animal Care becomes permanently unlocked. From that moment on, you can track discovered troughs and feed wild animals freely across Heartopia.
