- Discover the best Specialization to match your playstyle.
- Find out which abilities give you the edge in battles.
The Division Resurgence is the latest third-person shooter RPG from Ubisoft Entertainment, where you can select from 5 unique specializations to fit your own playstyle. And in this guide, I’ll suggest the best Starter specialization, how each works, and more. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!
The Division Resurgence Specialization Overview
If you don’t know, Specializations first came in The Division 2 with a signature weapon and a skill tree built around it. But in The Division Resurgence, they’ve evolved into fully playstyle-based kits, focusing more on how you play, as you can unlock new signature weapons and unique gadgets as you level up.

Now, each Specialization also has two different Focuses. For instance, as a Field Medic, you can either focus on healing teammates or switch things up to deal damage over time to enemies with poison. Plus, you can upgrade both of them with your skill points. And, the game includes 5 Specializations.
The Division Resurgence: Different Specializations
As I mentioned, you can switch between 4 unique Specializations anytime in-game to try new abilities and find the best synergy with your friends.
- Vanguard: Weapons Expert with 3-Star Difficulty.
- Demolitionist: Explosives Expert with 2-Star Difficulty.
- Bulwark: Defense Expert with 3 and half Star Difficulty.
- Field Medic: Healing and Skilsl Expert with 1-Star Difficulty.
Best Specialization to pick for Beginners in The Division Resurgence
Vanguard
I personally prefer the Vanguard Specialization since it gives you a solid edge in fights as a Weapons Expert. This one has 3-Star difficulty, and you can use two combat skills. The Commando Smart Cover enhances nearby cover by reducing damage taken and even helping you and your allies recover bullets.

Whereas, Scanning Pulse is a mandatory gadget that lets you scout a location using your AR lens. Plus, the scanned enemies receive more damage. But it’s the Tactical Link signature ability that makes this specialization one of the best, as you get assisted aiming during each burst, which helps you take down enemies optimally.
Once your account turns Level 12, I suggest you to try the other specializations too and check for yourself which of it will exactly match your playstyle. While Vanguard helps you progress smoothly and is a great pick for me, the same may not be true for you. So experiment and enjoy the gameplay.
