Ranking the Characters based on gameplay
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins’ gameplay is similar to Genshin Impact’s open world and Arknights: Endfield’s tag-like combo system of combat. In the game, you make a team of 4 different characters. Each has different elemental attributes and classes. The game works on the rock, paper, scissors logic with all 8 elements in the game currently.

Each character can wield 3 different types of weapons and do different kinds of utility on a team. For example, you can have King be a healer or a DPS depending on which type of weapon you set him up for. There are two types of character tiers: a 5-star and a 4-star. Weapons have 5-star, 4-star, and 3-star variants.

Best S-tier Units in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins Overview
Melodias in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins
Meliodas is the first gacha banner character in the game, and with that, he is a must-have due to his great DPS capability. Meliodas has great mobility options in his passive adventuring skill and a greater AOE skillset, which is superb for clearing mobs.

Due to his high-level DPS from skills alone, you can use a variety of SR quality weapons, which do not hamper his serious damage. He has 3 Weapon skillsets: Longsword, Dual Sword, and Axe. For a DPS-focused Melodias, I’ll suggest either going Longsword or Axe. Dual Sword is perfect for Sub-DPS Melodias in the team.
King in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins
King is currently the alternative to Melodias. He has a super neat place for being both a DPS and a Sub-DPS character in the current meta. While he doesn’t offer the mobility of Melodias, he makes up for it with his high damage and support passives. Although he is behind Mannie for the best Support in the game currently. He is no doubt the 2nd-best DPS in the game at launch.

For free-to-play players, you can equip him with any damage-boosting SR weapons, and it will work just fine. His Bloom passive helps you with increasing his damage further. He’s a magic-focused character, so the weapons for him are Grimoire, Staff, and Wand. He can also do healing and defense boost with his skills.
Mannie in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins
Currently, Mannie is the best support in the game. Most people think of her Staff spec as broken, and you can’t really argue with that. It’s worth noting that she’s the best pair for Meliodas. If you get her with King, you can set up King as the main DPS and her as the Sub-DPS for a higher DPS skill play.

Mannie and Jericho are the only Ice units available, as the other two slots are filled with general-purpose Supports like King and Elaine, providing buffs to set Mannie up for big DPS during its uptime. Mannie can utilise the staff for support gameplay, or if you want her DPS, go with Dual swords and Longsword.
Diane in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origins
Diane is the best tank character in the game, which makes her a must-have character right now in Seven Deadly Sins Origin. She’s the most versatile of all available characters. If you need a tank, she can be unkillable thanks to her Gauntlets. For the DPS side, she can also deal serious damage with her Axe. Of course, if you want to go with her Nunchucks, she also has some utility in her kit there.

Her main element is earth, and she has no other types of damage in her belt. She’s also a heavy melee-focused character due to her tanky nature. Elaine and King can act as a great support for the team if you want her to be the DPS. She’s also a character with a lot of SR weapon options, so feel free to try them out with her.
Final Thoughts
The current meta is heavily centered around the game’s new characters, who are designed with explosive kits and high-scaling damage potential, but often require very specific SSR-star support units to reach their full strength. This shift in design emphasizes more specialized teams, where running a character without their “intended” support significantly reduces their effectiveness
