Among Us, the popular social deduction game is currently having some server issues. A tweet from their official account has confirmed that due to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, their servers in North America and Europe are currently offline as they are trying to fix the issue.
Some malicious intent has targeted the servers
Someone with malicious intent has deliberately targeted the game’s servers. This isn’t the first time that Innersloth, the team working on Among Us, has had to face an issue like this as they had received a similar attack back in October of last year which also led to their servers not being online for a while.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to fix the issues soon and bring the game back online. Another example of a major DDoS attack would be the cyberattack during the SquidCraft Games, a Minecraft event in which several players from Andorra were disqualified due to not being able to participate. The cause for that was a DDoS attack too, which crippled the country’s only ISP. The reasons behind this attack aren’t really clear; however, they usually are sprung up by people who usually get away with them, so it’s unlikely that we’ll know why.
The tweet confirmed that it might take a while for the game to be completely up and running in the affected regions. Till then, players will most likely get a warning message while trying to log in to the game.
