Aniplex has reached an agreement with DELiGHTWORKS to purchase all shares of a brand new company that will take over DELiGHTWORKS’ games business by the company’s split. The two companies made an announcement, “Aniplex will buy the gaming business of DELiGHTWORKS”, on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021.
DELiGHTWORKS is first spinning off the division into an entirely new entity, Aniplex will buy the new business and transform it into a new fully owned subsidiary.
The new company is expected to be able to continue developing The Fate/Grand Order smartphone game, and the committee that produces the game will be changed to Aniplex, Notes (the corporate name of the Type-Moon creative circle), and the brand unknown company.
DELiGHTWORKS has come a long way with the agreement with Aniplex
DELiGHTWORKS is best known for its creation of cult games for mobile devices, such as Fate/Grand Order. It also collaborated together with Sega to develop Sakura Revolution, which shut down on June 30th, 2021. In addition, DELiGHTWORKS will also join the game console industry & market with the release of Melty Blood: Type Lumina for Xbox, PlayStation 4 along Nintendo Switch.
DELiGHTWORKS appointed executive producer Yoshinori Ono of Street Fighter as its COO & president on May 1st, 2021. The founder of the company and president, Akihito Shoji was appointed the CEO and chairman on the same day.
Yoshinori Ono was hired by Capcom in 1998 when Capcom was founded. He began his career at Capcom as a sound engineer and composer for the first seven years, until 2001. After being an assistant producer on Onimusha 2 at the time of its release in 2002, Ono made his debut as a producer by releasing in 2003 with the PlayStation 2 titled Chaos Legion. Ono became the protagonist for the series Street Fighter after creating Street Fighter 4 in 2008.
In August of 2020, Yoshinori Ono announced his resignation from Capcom. The company officially ended its employment in September of 2020. On April 18th, 2021, 11 days prior to the news, Ono returned to his previous company to disclose his new position. In his most recent tweets, Ono stated his hopes to see further expansion at DELiGHTWORKS and said he would supervise the development of games from a different standpoint. Then, the story began which is a big one today: Aniplex signing an agreement with DELiGHTWORKS.

So, it is final that Aniplex will buy the gaming business of DELiGHTWORKS. The agreement will be signed and the transaction is set to close in the early 2022 Spring. It is subject to the successful establishment of the corporate separation and the authorization and approval of the relevant authorities.
With its new team as well as its creators and staff, Aniplex will aim for even greater growth for the company & its overall business.
