Blue Lock BLAZE BATTLE to shut down this March 2026, another big anime IP left without a solid game is a head scratcher

No more soccer action!

Story Highlights
  • Blue Lock BLAZE BATTLE to end service on March 31, 2026.
  • Developers cite difficulty maintaining satisfactory service for players.
  • The game was originally launched in March 2024 in Japan.

Another shutdown announcement is making rounds, and this time, it is Blue Lock BLAZE BATTLE who’s the culprit. BAEL Inc. has officially announced that Blue Lock BLAZE BATTLE will end service on March 31, 2026.

In their notice, the team stated that despite daily efforts to improve the game, they concluded it would be difficult to continue delivering a service that satisfies players in the future. Details regarding the shutdown schedule and refunds are available through in-game notices.

The game originally launched in March 2024 and was positioned as a “thrilling soccer battle game” built around the massively popular Blue Lock franchise. It lets players relive iconic anime moments, build dream teams with characters like Isagi, Nagi, and Bachira, and compete in intense 11v11 matches.

For fans of the manga and anime, the cutscenes and story callbacks were easily the biggest highlight. But here’s where the disappointment really sinks in. Global players never properly got the opportunity to experience it. For a franchise as massive as Blue Lock, this is a huge miss.

The closure proves that even the biggest anime IPs struggle to find a home in gaming

Let’s be honest, Blue Lock is huge. The manga has crossed 300 chapters. The anime exploded in popularity, especially during the U-20 Japan vs Blue Lock arc. There’s even a live-action movie on the way. The hype is real and ongoing, and you can easily cash in on it.

You would think a franchise operating at that level would have at least one strong, polished, globally available game that truly captures its world. Instead, what we’ve seen is either limited regional releases or titles that don’t fully deliver the “ultimate Blue Lock experience.”

Yes, there’s BLUE LOCK PWC, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark. It’s hard not to feel like this was a formula that should have worked. You have everything in plate within the anime itself: fleshed out characters, football action, game mode ideas, and lots more.

Yet here we are again, watching another Blue Lock title close its doors. As a fan who’s been reading the manga weekly and watching the anime at its peak, it’s honestly a disappointment. Blue Lock deserves a game, a solid, globally released game.
