Japan-based video game developer DMM Games have announced their upcoming heroic action RPG titled Blue Reflection Sun. The game will launch as a spin-off to their Blue Reflection title, released back in 2017. Blue Reflection Sun is scheduled for a winter release in Japan and has opened the pre-registration of the game for both Android and iOS devices, with a playable PC version compatible with the developers’ own DMM Game Player. To commemorate the launch, the makers have also planned for a special live stream with a Twitter campaign underway.
Blue Reflection Sun: A world around the Hinomori Academy in Japan
Blue Reflection Sun is a spin-off to the popular RPG Blue Reflection by Gust which was released globally in 2017. The game was widely acknowledged in Japan, and five years later, the makers opted to give the fans another taste of what they longed for, a sequel. The game will be free-to-play, as confirmed by the makers which will include in-game purchases as well.
To give a sneak peek of what the players are in wait for, the team has released the trailer of the game, revealing the details of the plot, what the story focus is going to be on, and the characters who are taking part in this adventure. The trailer can be viewed below:
The story focuses on the female students in the Hinomori Academy, where mysterious ashes smog the city. At first, people were optimistic about it, thinking of it as being a natural phenomenon even though it was disgusting. However, they soon learn that these ashes aren’t what they seemed at first, and in fact, are a harmful substance that invades the human body.
These ashes have caused mayhem in the city, leaving people dead for over a year and a half. Shiho Kasuga, one of the victims of the ash, is transferred to Hinomori Academy in order to receive treatment. The next part of the story will focus on Shiho and the others ready to fight the ash and the monsters formed by them, the Testas.
More events to follow as the release approaches
Scheduled for a winter release, the makers have already introduced a Twitter promotion event and have scheduled a live stream with the main cast who voiced the characters and the development team of the game joining in to give their takes on the game along with answering fan queries.
Twitter Follow and RT Campaign
In addition to the pre-registration being open, a Twitter follow and RT campaign is live now, which will be held until January 12 to reward players with more in-game items that will be distributed after the game is released. Along with the in-game items, up to 500 participants can win Amazon gift cards, each worth a maximum of JPY$10,000.
To participate in the campaign, users have to follow the official Twitter account (@BRSUN_game), retweet the campaign tweet, pre-register and get ready for the launch of the game. The pre-registration rewards breakdown is given below:

Official Live Stream with the team
Announced on their official handles is that an official live stream will air on January 19 at 19:00JST (10:00GMT). The live broadcast will feature the main cast; Emiri Suyama as Shiho Kasuga, Hina Tachibana as Meichi Shao, and Iori Saeki as Yukiko Takaoka.
Mel Kishida, who is the general supervisor/character designer for the Blue Reflection series, will present the results of the previously conducted closed beta test in December 2022, along with the future plans for the release of this game and the latest information.
As of now, the game does not have any global release schedule. We’ll update the space as and when more information is released on the global launch of Blue Reflection Sun.
