Out of nowhere, someone has dropped a stun grenade, and tada, we have a new game. If the joke didn’t land, the game definitely will, as Borderlands Mobile crashes onto iOS devices, where the latest looter shooter experience from Zynga is currently available as a soft launch in the US.
So the reason why this is a surprise because this totally came out of nowhere. There are no announcements from Zynga or even a teaser of what’s there; they simply just released this. I could find a support and FAQ page, though. You can check it out.
Borderlands Mobile looks at classic loot-driven gameplay with a wide variety of weapons
Set in the same wild universe fans know, the game throws you into a galaxy that is uncontrollable with chaos. With the Calypso twins gone and the Firehawk missing, corporate control is spreading unchecked, and Vault Hunters again have to come to the rescue.

So from the details and gameplay snippets available, the mobile version keeps the core identity of Borderlands intact. You can loot a massive variety of weapons, from pistols to rocket launchers, each with unique stats and effects.
Skags, bandits, and bosses will be regular as you will meet them and battle to progress. Mission types range from story-driven campaigns to modes like Tower of Terror and Circle of Slaughter, while the best part about the game is how the narration still has the humour and funky elements.
For those new to the series, Borderlands is one of gaming’s most successful franchises, known for its loot-driven gameplay, co-op mechanics, and fun elements. While having the biggest hits on PC and Consoles, it has also seen a release on mobile with Borderlands Legends and Borderlands 2, although only the latter still remains active.
Right now, the game is only available on iOS in the US, so access is limited. If you are from the region and want to test it out, the App Store is your friend. There’s no word yet on an Android version, although the support page mentions it, so the store page might be made active soon.
As for the other regions and then a global release, no details are out yet, so stay tuned in this space for more info.
