Call of Duty fans, we have some exciting news here, as the long-awaited movie finally has a release window. The live-action adaptation is now scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2028, and while the wait is over two years, the big-screen experience will be worth the wait.
Call of Duty games set a high bar in production, raising expectations for the live-action
The film is being directed by Peter Berg, who is also co-writing the project alongside Taylor Sheridan. Both are also on board as producers, joined by David Glasser and Rob Kostich. The movie is being developed by Paramount Pictures and Activision, with Paramount handling distribution.
This isn’t exactly new news for those who’ve been following it closely. Back in late 2025, it was confirmed that Berg and Sheridan would lead the project, which already piqued fans’ interest given their past work together on award-winning films like Wind River and Hell or High Water.
The exciting part is with the story. Of course, there won’t be any story details revealed, but we are always open to guessing what’s going to come. They definitely won’t pick an existing plot, but there’s tremendous confidence on the writing side of things.
And then there’s the production quality. We all know how good CoD games are, from storytelling to animation, everything was surreal. With Paramount at the helm, this is definitely going to take things a notch higher. Overall, there’s definitely a lot to work with.
Call of Duty is one of the biggest franchises in gaming, with over 1 billion players and more than $35 billion in revenue over the years since its inception in 2003. It has been around for over two decades and has covered everything from World War settings to modern and futuristic conflicts.

No details about the cast are known at the time of writing. With the release date now locked in, the next big question will be casting and how exactly the movie plans to approach its story. The fun is in the wait.
