Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile quietly returns to stores with pre-registration now open after being delisted

What a sudden surprise.

Story Highlights
  • Warzone Mobile returns with pre-registration after its official shutdown announcement from Activision.
  • Players can now pre-register for the game on Android via the Google Play Store.
  • Activision is yet to officially comment as players question what this sudden move actually means.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile might be back, back from the dead. After Activision officially confirmed that Warzone Mobile will be discontinued on May 18, 2025, the game has now shown up again on the Android store page, with pre-registration going live.

Warzone Mobile’s surprise return creates confusion after months of silence

A lot of players started noticing the listing earlier today, and screenshots began circulating across social media. Several fans and players confirmed that the pre-register option is active, and it looks like the rollout is slowly expanding to more regions.

Poor optimization and developer support are responsible for Warzone Mobile shutdown

This comes months after Activision announced the game’s shutdown plans, including removing it from app stores and stopping seasonal content and gameplay updates. Now, there are no known reasons why the game is back in stores, but this definitely leaves room for some optimism.

Before the shutdown news, the game was already struggling badly. There were almost no meaningful season updates, no real in-game events, and very little communication. This didn’t improve much during its initial run, but this could be changed with its return.

Now that pre-registration for Warzone Mobile is suddenly going live again, no one really knows what Activision’s next move will be. If you are on Android, you can pre-register via the Google Play Store. No details are known regarding the iOS store page going live.

There has been no clarification on whether this is part of a relaunch, a regional test, or something else entirely. It could be a bug, too. I tried searching for the game, and I could only find this via the link, so again these are signs that tells us to not get our hopes high.

Still, is it time to be excited about a potential improved version of the game? To get some clarity on all these questions, we at GamingonPhone have reached out to the team. Keep an eye on this space; more updates are sure to come.
