Clash of Clans clarifies how Gold Pass Magic Items work after confusion from March 2026 update

No more confusions!

Story Highlights
  • Clash of Clans clarified how Magic Items work on the Gold Pass reward track following confusions.
  • Books, Hammers, and Rings still require claiming and using through the normal inventory.
  • The direct-use option will not appear if your Magic Item storage is already full.

Clash of Clans has shared a clarification regarding how Magic Items from the Gold Pass track work after players were left confused by the new convenience feature introduced in the March 2026 update.

The update brought a major overhaul to the Gold Pass system, including a redesigned UI, a new Daily Task system, Choice Nodes for rewards, the Hoggy Bank replacing the Season Bank, and even a new Village Helper called the Prospector.

Only “no-target” items like Runes and Potions can be used directly from the track

With the updated reward track, Supercell also added a nice feature that allows certain Magic Items to be used directly from the Gold Pass track or even to sell them instead of claiming them first. However, the change was not clearly explained when the update went live, which led to many of us assuming the feature worked for all Magic Items.

Supercell has clarified how the direct-use feature for Magic Items in the Gold Pass works. The feature only works for Magic Items that don’t need a specific target. These are items that automatically apply across your village, so you don’t have to choose a building, troop, or upgrade.

Examples include Runes, Boost Potions, Super Potions, and Pet Potions. These items can now be used directly from the Gold Pass track, making them quicker and more convenient to activate. However, some Magic Items still cannot be used directly from the track.

Items like Books, Hammers, Rings, and other targeted Magic Items require you to select a specific building, troop, or upgrade. Because of that, they must still be claimed first and then used from your inventory like before.

Another small detail that confused players is related to Magic Item storage limits. If your inventory for a certain Magic Item is already full, you won’t see the option to use another one directly from the Gold Pass track. To use it, you first need to make space in your inventory.

Supercell says this is intentional and working as designed. However, the team also admitted that this feature was not explained clearly when the update was released, which led to confusion among players.
