COD Mobile crossed 500 million downloads and $1 billion in revenue

Players are getting some free rewards

Activision has announced that its hugely successful COD Mobile has amassed an incredible new milestone of reaching 500 million downloads worldwide since it was launched in October 2019. The highly acclaimed title from the Call of Duty series also set a record earlier as one of the fastest mobile games in history to soar past 30 million downloads in one week.

Activision’s president, Rob Kostich, durinɠ an earnings call of parent company Activision Blizzard shared another news that the game has now surpassed $1 billion in player spendings.

The game’s official Twitter account took to Twitter to make the official announcement and thanked the players, community and active supporters and encouraged them to check their in-game inbox for gifts as a method of celebrating.

Call of Duty franchise continuous to enjoy its massive success

Call of Duty: Mobile is enjoying a massive success at the moment which many will credit to its latest Tokyo Escape expansion which saw the game make the highest ever grossest expansion according to Kostich. And thanks to the massive amount of players from both Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision’s active monthly Call of Duty players have catapulted to over 150 million in the last couple of years.

Additionally, these players aren’t just playing the game but they’re spending lots of cash on the seasonal content of the respective games and still paying good money to buy premium Call of Duty titles and helping to push Activision’s latest COD installment, Black Ops Cold War to attaining record numbers. As far as the future of the Call of Duty franchise goes, it’s been reported that the next Call of Duty title will be made alongside Toys for Bob, the studio Crash Bandicoot and Skylanders will be hopping on board to assist Activision in developing the next highly acclaimed first-person shooter that has sold over 400 million copies ever since.
