- Codename Synapse has reportedly been in development since 2019.
- Leaks suggest that Project Rodeo was initially planned but might have been cancelled or rebranded as Codename Synapse.
- Leaked snippets showcase gameplay focused on taming and riding Pokémon.
Recent leaks have hinted at a potential new Pokémon spin-off game Codename Synapse. The multiplayer game might be either Synapse or Rodeo, is said to revolve around riding and taming Pokémon, set to be an online co-op battler, gearing up to be the next exciting addition to the Pokémon franchise.
Project Rodeo was the originally planned game but might have been replaced
This new Pokémon Game is said to be developed in collaboration with Game Freak and ILCA, according to the posts by Centro LEAKS. Synapse is said to be under development longer than any other recent mainstream Pokémon games, since 2019.
Codename Rodeo was originally planned as a spin-off game, but it appears to have been canceled. However, according to leaks from a hacker, Game Freak and ILCA began working on a new multiplayer game inspired by Splatoon, under the codename Synapse. Interestingly, the leaked documents for Rodeo also reference Splatoon as an inspiration, suggesting the two projects could be connected.
It’s possible that Rodeo was rebranded and revived as Synapse, but there’s also a chance that the hacker may have confused the two. Either way, the concept behind Rodeo might still be alive under a new identity, which we are not sure about.
The controls and gameplay videos of Codename Synapse are out
The control schemes, were leaked, but it was seemingly providing more emphasis on the Switch, so mobile users might not benefit from it. Now, the short snippets of gameplay present players with encounters between riding Pokémon for control or to calm wild creatures was also showcased. If interested, most of the gameplay videos are being deleted, so try to catch them as quickly as possible.
Another clip that has been leaked positively displays brief test footage of players defeating and then riding wild creatures, which you might also find a taming system. The game is said to have an objective-based structure alongside co-op gameplay, where you could team up to battle against other trainers or wild Pokémon.
Still, there is no official word or detailed clarification as to whether Synapse will ever happen. The rumored developers Game Freak are also yet to comment on this one. If anything and confirmed, we will be seeing the title on Nintendo Switch and our mobile devices. I’ll keep you updated as more details come in.
