Nintendo, the Japanese multinational video game company has announced that they are establishing a joint venture company with mobile games company DeNA. This joint venture company will be officially established on April 3, 2023. Nintendo is a big name in the video game industry for the last couple of decades and has created products of mass entertainment for over a century. DeNA is another Japanese company known for providing mobile portals and e-commerce sites.
The company has developed the service infrastructure and Nintendo Account integration for multiple Nintendo titles available on iOS and Android devices, including Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Mario Kart Tour. DeNA also takes care of these services and is responsible for handling the data.
Nintendo intends to improve its gaming experience for users with this joint venture
This joint venture has been formed to wish to boost and solidify the digitalization of Nintendo’s business. This joint venture company will research and develop, as well as create “value-added services” to strengthen Nintendo’s relationship with consumers. The joint venture company will be officially known as Nintendo Systems Co., Ltd and will have its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
Nintendo has released a press release where they have explained everything in detail. The company has made it clear that they want to provide an “enhanced gaming experience and service outside of its dedicated gaming system”.
Nintendo has revealed that they joined hands with DeNA in 2015 to conduct business and raise joint capital. The newly established company Nintendo Systems Co., Ltd will have a capital of 5 billion yen. This joint venture company will become a subsidiary of Nintendo and will contribute 80% of the required capital. Some of the Nintendo officers and employees will concurrently serve as directors of Nintendo Systems.
