Diablo Immortal ‘Terror’s Tide’ update launches with new content, events, and rewards

Crash in Hell's Minions in Terror's Tide update!

Terror’s Tide, the second major update for Diablo Immortal has been released by Blizzard and is now available. This update is jam-packed with both new materials, such as the Stormpoint Zone and Voidwound Helliquary and modifications to existing content and systems. Players will set sail towards the salt-scrubbed prison island in Stormpoint, the first post-launch Zone, to look into a dark scheme to use the power of the largest Worldstone shard, which has taken control of the island.

On December 13, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. PST, Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe servers will undergo maintenance for the update. For servers in the Americas, on December 14 from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. PST. All of the below-mentioned things will be live following the completion of the maintenance.

Diablo Immortal Terror’s Tide: Feature Updates

Introducing Hell Difficulties VI, VII, and VIII

Hell’s flames are burning brighter and hotter than before. To help players reach previously unattainable Paragon Levels, three new Hell Difficulties have been implemented. Players will notice that Hell Difficulties VI, VII, and VIII are brand-new selections in the Hell Difficulties menu. Players need not be alarmed if passing through Hell’s gates requires overcoming the scariest dreams. Their Hell VI level will be quickly reached thanks to the new Sever Paragon Level experience and loot boosts.

Daily Activities

Numerous players expressed their dissatisfaction with the frequency with which legendary and set goods dropped in their feedback to Diablo Immortal developers. To remedy this, developers are smoothly integrating them into routine tasks so that players have more chances to receive these kinds of items. The following modifications have been made:

  • Legendary items are now more likely to drop from the bounty chest.
  • At the start of each day, completing a Bestiary quest will now ensure that you receive a Legendary item.
  • A guaranteed Set item will now be given to players who complete three dungeons each day. Through the Codex, the Set item will be awarded.

Below Server Paragon System

The process of catching up in Server Paragon Levels is also modified to better prepare all adventurers for the perils that await them in the new Stormpoint Zone:

  • All servers with Server Paragon Levels lower than 320 will have their levels raised.
  • The maximum Experience rewards have increased from 400% to 800% for being below Server Paragon Level.
  • For players far below the Server Paragon Level, the possibility of receiving Legendary and Set items as a drop has been boosted by 250%; as a player approaches the Server Paragon Level, these higher drop rates will diminish.

New Paragon Trees

Three new paragon trees, Massacre, Brawler, and Duelist are also arriving with the update. Locking new Paragon Trees behind particular Paragon Levels makes them feel more time-gated and less like rewards after players have acquired them. The Paragon Trees that unlock at various Hell difficulties are changed as part of this update to make Hell difficulties feel more rewarding and to allow player talent rather than grind time to give early access to new Paragon Trees. In all cases, players should be able to unlock new Paragon Trees sooner than they could before the update. Players who have already unlocked existing Paragon Trees will have those trees unlocked following the update.

  • Massacre: While players accumulate kills and raise their streak counter, it concentrates on improving their efficiency.
  • Brawler: Strengthens players defenses against Elite foes as its primary goal. This perk will be distributed among partygoers.
  • Duelist: Focuses on using Skills to build damage boosts; to keep these advantages, you must not take damage. If you do sustain injury, all the power accumulated will explode outside in a Static Discharge, harming foes nearby.

Cheat Death’s functioning has also been changed. It now has a 210-second cooldown instead of 120.

Developer’s Note: Cheat Death’s impact in PvP is very strong, and we want deaths to have more significance. The goal is to reduce the instances where several Cheat Death effects combine to provide extended durations of immunity to dying by lengthening the cooldown. This should result in more consistently occurring battleground skirmishes when a player’s demise truly causes a demise. Other game modes, where battles won’t survive long enough to witness a second use of Cheat Death, shouldn’t be significantly impacted by this change.

Monk Skills

Some situational skills, such Shield of Zen and Inner Sanctuary, are unlocked too early for Monks and that players frequently don’t find use for these skills until late in the game. We changed the unlock levels for a number of Skills in order to solve this and allow players to experiment with more offensive skills early in the levelling process. We hope that this gives players more worthwhile options and enables them to test out their offensive prowess in search of a playstyle they appreciate.

  • Wave of Light is now available at level 20 rather than 41.
  • Exploding Palm is now available at level 28 rather than 20.
  • Instead of level 47, Flying Dragon is now available at level 38.
  • Shield of Zen is now available at level 41 rather than 28.
  • Instead of 38, the Inner Sanctuary now unlocks at 47.

Additionally, to encourage the use of several underutilized Monk Skills and new builds for this class, the following have been tuned:

  • The range of Flying Kick increased, and the cooldown was shortened from 12 to 9 seconds. All Legendary affixes for Flying Kick will also benefit from this cooldown reduction.
  • The radius of Cyclone Strike was expanded, and the charge time was cut in half.
  • The explosion radius of Wave Strike was expanded, and the charge time was cut in half.
  • The harm done by Wave of Light was increased.
  • The debuff from Exploding Palm now also makes the enemy bleed. All Legendary affixes for Exploding Palm will have the Bleed effect added to them.
  • The strike area of Deadly Reach has been expanded; it now deals full damage to your main target and 30% of that damage to any nearby foes.

Set Items

The Vithu’s Urges four-piece set bonus delivered twice the Attack Speed compared to what its in-game description claimed after a study of current Set pieces. This set has been corrected, and it now offers the intended 30% Attack Speed. This is to increase the level of parity between this set and the other sets because it was significantly outperforming the others.

In the same vein, it was concluded that certain additional sets would also gain from tuning. The following set bonuses have been modified to:

  • Windloft Perfection (Two-Piece Bonus): When engaged in combat, acquire Thousand Winds, which raises your Movement Speed by 15%. If you sustain damage, Thousand Winds becomes inactive for two seconds.
  • Issatar Imbued (Two-Piece Bonus): Gain a 30% boost in movement speed every time you defeat an enemy, good for three seconds.
  • Feasting Baron’s Pack (Four-Piece Bonus): 20% more damage is dealt to foes who are under your loss of control effects from all sources.

Hero’s Journey

All current progress for Hero’s Journey Chapters One through Six will be suspended following the maintenance windows for this Major Content Update, and a new Hero’s Journey will start. For the new Hero’s Journey, only Chapters 1 through 4 will be available; Chapters 5 and 6 will be released later.

All Zone event tasks from Hero’s Journey have been eliminated to make Chapter completion easier. Adventurers will earn a variety of goodies as they complete their Chapters, and after finishing Chapter Four, they will receive the Boundary Walker Portrait Frame as a victory gift.

Similar to the earlier iteration, this Hero’s Journey is scheduled to be accessible for around six months.

Shadow War

The new Stamina feature in Shadow War is now available to players who become Immortals. The Stamina bar will start to deplete whenever they walk across the battlefield. The Immortal will see a decrease in movement speed when the Stamina meter is empty. Only when the Immortal is motionless will the stamina bar start to reload.

Dungeons

  • All dungeons now have blacksmiths at the very end.
  • Dungeons can now occasionally include Ancient Elites. Keep in mind that a Legendary item will drop if you kill your first Ancient Elite of the day.
  • The Cavern of Echoes dungeon in the Frozen Tundra region now has a Waypoint next to it.

Charms

  • The likelihood of rolling a +10% modifier while imbuing Charms has increased.

Diablo Immortal Terror’s Tide Update: New Zone and Questline: Stormpoint

Diablo Immortal’s first post-launch Zone is Stormpoint, which may be reached once a player has attained Hell Difficulty III, finished the Starsign quest, and is at least level 60. The island, battered by rain and covered in mist, has long served as a secret prison for political prisoners and Sanctuary’s worst of the worst. The Cult of Terror, Diablo’s minions, are swarming Stormpoint Keep to take the biggest piece of the Worldstone. Adventurers, you must act quickly to put an end to their evil scheme. But be careful—from the thunderous sky above, the monstrous Howling Terror watches your every step.

Diablo Immortal Terror’s Tide Update: Brumaltine Limited-Time Holiday Event

The residents of Westmarch closed their shops early with the moon as their witness. Some bravely walked while others bolted in a frenzy of elation. A man carrying a large stone carving bearing an ancient symbol cried, “To Rakkis Plaza, now!” The town square was drenched in light, and warmth radiated from nearby hearths, handheld lanterns, and cumbersome torches, creating a spectacle worthy of tales. The heart of the celebration was dominated by a tree that was devoid of greenery but brimming with red candles. A yell rang out as the square filled with many souls, gifts of various decorations, and the sharing of homemade cards:

“May warmth fill your heart throughout the new year!”

Players can participate in the Brumaltine limited-time Christmas event from December 14, 3:00 a.m. to January 4, 3:00 a.m. server time to express their gratitude for continuing warmth and safety. They can accomplish up to three daily chores each day to earn snow-dusted gifts and advance toward more significant rewards.

Players can log in to receive celebratory Brumaltine presents every weekend. Players can also take part in the custom of exchanging cards with friends, which originated in Brumaltine. For further information, players can visit the Brumaltine in-game menu.

New Cosmetic Set: Grakkinskin

On Brumaltine, if players wander too far into the night, they will only be able to endure the cold as a Grakkin. By spending 1,000 Eternal Orbs on the Grakkinskin Standard Cosmetic Set from the in-game store, you can transform yourself into a winter-worn nightmare.

Diablo Immortal Terror’s Tide Update: The Voidwound Helliquary

Witches of the Sharval Wilds bound the dark demons long ago. Their centuries-old schemes now endanger Westmarch and the territories beyond as parts of their broken cage fall. By completing the prologue quest The Chainbreakers, which is accessible at player level 60, the new Voidwound Helliquary is made available. Some fascinating changes result from this Helliquary expansion:

  • All Helliquary Raid difficulties can now be completed solo.
  • With each level of Hell Difficulty, the difficulty of each Helliquary boss will significantly rise. We encourage enlisting allies in your fight against evil.
  • You must take down the relevant Helliquary bosses in Diablo Immortal to unlock additional Hell difficulties.
  • Players can now form parties for Hell Difficulties I through IV. The difficulty of the dungeon and any experience points and loot dropped will scale to the Hell difficulty of each party member.

The following modifications have also been made to Demonic Remains:

  • Each Helliquary boss will now be followed by the dropping of Demonic Remains. After every Monday and Thursday Helliquary reset, you will only get the remains of your first five kills.
  • Players can now allocate Demonic Remains to various spaces in the Trophies page of the Helliquary menu. When inserted into a slot, each Demonic Remain offers different advantages to Challenge Rifts. You can now have up to five Demonic Remains bonuses active, as opposed to just one in the past.
  • Players are dared to reach higher Hell Difficulties for the highest prizes because the traits supplied by each Demonic Remain will scale to the Hell Difficulty they earned it from.

Here’s how to unlock Hell Difficulties I–V:

  • Hell Difficulty I can be unlocked by felling Lassal the Flame-spun.
  • By felling Vitaath the Shivering Death, Hell Difficulty II is made available.
  • Hell Difficulty III can be unlocked by felling Gorgothra the Claimer.
  • Hell Difficulty IV can be unlocked by felling Beledwe and Gishtur.
  • Hell Difficulty V can be unlocked by felling Izilech the Misshapen.

A hellish quintet of terror has run amuck in Sanctuary—meet your new lieutenants of Hell:

  • Ophinneb the Skin-Veiled: Among the Voidwound demons, Ophinneb is the only one who finds interest in people. To what purpose does she put on and take off lives like clothing? She resided in a long-forgotten citadel that had collected ornamentation and opulence upon her arrival in Sanctuary. Does she have other goals or is she just a hunter disguised in a human disguise?

To unlock Hell Difficulty VI, fell Ophinneb alone or with a party.

  • Catarag the Strangling Sun: The Black Abyss’ crowning of Catarag has left a smoldering shadow in its wake that absorbs light. A circle of Sharval witches barely contained the demon at the cost of their lives when it rose on Sanctuary like a stain on the sun. It aims to usher in a dark period where the void of its birth can engulf the sun, the moon, and both Heaven and Hell centuries later.
  • Dymdrail, Crawling Woe: Due to Dymdrail’s insatiable nature, the Circle of Untamable Wilds found it to be an easy target for captivity. All it took was a slow drowning act to tempt the demon out of its hiding place. However, Dymdrail is home to a large number of people, and it multiplies with each soul it ingests.
  • Apothrus, Tamer of the Fallen: Phantoms are captured and tortured by the owner of Rattlebreath Hall. They flee their bodies, leaving behind insane haunts. Apothrus’ anger about his imprisonment—his only experience of humiliation in a primal existence—cannot be placated by the suffering deaths in any number. He is committed to perpetual revenge, while another Voidwound is more interested in revelry or power.

Felling Apothrus alone or with a party unlocks Hell Difficulty VII.

  • Phangwrth, Warmth-Feaster: Since emerging from the Abyss in a dark form, Phangwrth has spent a chilly existence. Any warmth it experiences has been carved from the steaming carcasses of its victims. Millennia spent in captivity has made its appetites stronger. It is unstoppable as winter wind now that it is free to roam Sanctuary. It will soon become a feast for millions. It gnaws at frost and bone.

Felling Phangwrth alone or with a party unlocks Hell Difficulty VIII.

Diablo Immortal Terror’s Tide Update: Five new Legendary Gems

Legendary Gems play a crucial role in a character’s development. We’ve added five new Legendary Gems to Diablo Immortal to give players more options. Players will have the choice to run Elder Rifts with a modified drop table for their Legendary Crests for three weeks following the game’s release. Every time a five-star gem drops with the modified drop table enabled, there is a 25% chance that it will be the brand-new Concentrated Will Legendary Gem and a 25% chance that it will be the Hellfire Fragment Legendary Gem.

This is the first Cross-Class Cosmetic Set created, and it can be used on all of Diablo Immortal’s Classes once players have obtained it. It also has a special Cosmetic Emoji, customized visual effects when players kill a string of Hell’s minions, and ethereal flourishes both when they are moving and when they’re still.
