The fourth-quarter earnings call for Activision Blizzard was just released and it brings great news for fans of Diablo. Diablo Immortal has been confirmed to release later this year! Even with all Covid-related delays, we are ecstatic to be getting this widely anticipated release this year!
Diablo Immortal was hit by setbacks and delays
With its first announcement in 2018, much to the chagrin of Blizzcon attendees, Blizzard has been hard at work for this next installment in the Diablo series. With the onset of Covid-19 , most games have been hit by delays and setbacks. Players have been eagerly awaiting news on the title. The first technical Alpha test started in Dec 2020 and gave players their first real look at the game. After the alpha test ended, players were worried to be left in another information drought. With the fourth-quarter earnings call for Activision Blizzard, we now have a clarification on the release of Diablo Immortal.
“ On mobile, the first stage of regional testing for Diablo® ImmortalTM in December and January was met with very positive feedback and strong engagement metrics. More players will get to experience the game in further rounds of testing ahead of the launch planned for later this year.”

No exact release date confirmed by Activision Blizzard
Now, we still must wait again for more news on the exact release date of the title. We don’t have anything to speculate on either. Blizzard has also reinforced in the earnings report, that we will be getting Blizzcon Online on February 19 and 20, 2021. Players can now hope to expect more news on the release of Diablo Immortal and any other games in Blizzard catalog over that weekend.

Yeah, you know Covid-19 wasn’t an issue when they announced the game. Seems like they put it on the shelf after the blowback from that year’s BlizzCon, or whatever that annual gathering of basement-dwellers is called. After over two years of waiting, I find that I no longer even care.
Understandable. The wait has been too long to even care now. However, things will be clearer after this year’s BlizzCon.
