KONAMI has revealed a surprising new direction for its football franchise, announcing a manga adaptation titled “That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES”, based on eFootball’s Master League. The announcement was made during the eFootball CONNECT showcase on April 8, 2026, alongside details for the v5.4.0 update.
The story follows a protagonist reincarnated into the Master League football world
The manga puts a completely different spin on the football sim, following a story in which the protagonist is reincarnated into the world of Master League. So, in manga terminology, you can call this falling under the isekai subgenre.

Instead of a traditional manager experience, the story plays out from within the world itself, and the club name is “We United”, a familiar club during our PES days. Early chapters introduce characters such as Burchet, a fast-paced winger from Australia, and Minanda, a captain and key figure on the team.
Alongside them are players like Castolo, another name popular in PES, with the story focusing on their journeys, personalities, and interactions both on and off the pitch. The narrative leans into humor and will show you some exaggerated moments, locker room antics, and over-the-top match situations.
Kodansha, a powerhouse in manga publishing, is leading the charge for That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES. The project features artwork by Kiminori Wakasugi, best known for titles like Detroit Metal City and Kappei.
The manga is being released through Kodansha’s K MANGA platform, with new chapters scheduled every Wednesday. At the time of writing, two chapters are already available, so if you are interested in reading and following the manga series, you can check out the official website.
