- eFootball 2026 v5.4.0 update is arriving on April 9, 2026.
- The update is bringing new Epics with a 1 Billion Downloads campaign.
A new update is all set to arrive on eFootball 2026, with v5.4.0 arriving on April 9, 2026, and this time, we have a much clearer idea of what’s coming. There is a massive 1 Billion Downloads campaign that is headling the update, while the gameplay updates probably are my favorite changes that will shape the new meta.
eFootball 2026 v5.4.0 update: All you need to know
New Game Mode: Master League Sprint
Many discussions about Master League’s arrival in the eFootball franchise have happened, and finally, it is arriving. However, this is not in the way many expected. Instead of a full standalone mode, it will be introduced as a limited-time event called Master League Sprint.

Details about this mode were already out a couple of days ago, and from itself we knew it to be an online yet simplified version of the traditional Master League experience. Here, you manage a team, progress through matches, and earn rewards within a shorter format. Your starting squad will include original Master League players as well.
1 Billion Downloads Campaign
The chance deals we have been collecting since last week will finally have some use. The 1 Billion Downloads Campaign will go live from April 9 to April 30, 2026, so we are getting some rewards here. The campaign features Epic players led by Ronaldinho Gaúcho, with other legends like Angelo Peruzzi, Steven Gerrard, Francesco Totti, Cafu, Edmilson, and Dimitar Berbatov also included.

Signing them will be free. You can earn Chance Deals through login bonuses and campaign objectives, giving 23 chances in total to sign one of the 7 Epic cards from a 250-player pack. Then I’m not sure if it is lost in translation, as we will also get a free chance deal that can sign a random player for free among the seven, which also could be a Selection Contract.
New Epic pack: National All-Stars
The upcoming National All-Stars pack will be headlined by a Big Time Eden Hazard card. Hazard arrives with a boosted overall, which might go up to 109, while the rest of the pack includes a lineup of 6 Epic cards.

Names like Wesley Sneijder, Frank Lampard, Dragan Stojković, and Pep Guardiola are part of the selection in the midfield, alongside Pepe in defense. However, you can clearly see a card is not among the displayed, which is expected to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who might be made unavailable due to licensing concerns.
I’m expecting his Sweden Epic card, hopefully a Goal Poacher this time, as the pack is National All-Stars. The structure follows the usual format of one Big Time card supported by multiple Epics in a 250 pack.
Massive Gameplay changes: Focus on dribbling and realism
The biggest talking point of the v5.4.0 update is the shift in gameplay feel, especially around dribbling and defending. Dribbling is set to feel noticeably faster and smoother, much needed. They have made Sharp Touch useful now, so dash dribbling gets a major plus.
This change is further supported by defenders reacting slightly slower in one-on-one situations, which was frustrating when defenders with lower speed and out of balance used to catch up with us. Alongside this, defending itself is also being adjusted.
The standing tackle gameplay has been adjusted, while tackles from behind are now more strictly punished, often resulting in red cards. So we’ll be getting a good break from those slide tackle spammers. The same goes for pressing; just spamming pressing won’t help your defending here.
Shooting has also received subtle buffs. Long-range shots are expected to be more accurate from certain angles because of the park-the-bus strategy, and chip shots when facing the goalkeeper are now more effective, both giving attackers more options in the final third.
Some mechanics have been toned down. Long passes will be less accurate from players with lower numbers, and time-wasting tactics, especially involving defenders and goalkeepers holding possession, will be less effective because of the same. Wish they had something for smart assist filters too, but we take this as a win for now.
While the expected roadmap does give an idea about what’s to come next, the excitement now is for the eFootball 2026 v5.4.0 update set to release this April 9, 2026.
