Epic Games, the creator of the popular title Fortnite, has announced a long-term partnership with Telefónica, one of the world’s leading telecommunications providers with aims to make Fortnite and the Epic Games Store more accessible. As part of the partnership, the Epic Games Store and Fortnite will be pre-installed on new compatible Android devices on Telefónica’s network.
Epic Games and Telefónica’s partnership aims to create a more competitive ecosystem for Android users
Today, Epic Games has announced its partnership with Telefónica via X (formerly known as Twitter) and their official website. According to the announcement, they will pre-install the Epic Games Store and Fortnite on all new compatible Android devices within Telefónica’s network. The Epic Games Store was globally launched on Android and iOS on August 16, 2024.
This long-term partnership aims to make popular games like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe more easily accessible to Android players residing in Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America. Rocket League Sideswipe was recently removed from the Google Play Store globally and the App Store in Europe on August 23, 2024.
Users can expect additional benefits from this collab starting next year
This is not the first collaboration between Epic Games and Telefónica. During the global pandemic, they created a unique interactive music experience in Fortnite with the O2 Arena. Moreover, Telefónica was the first mobile carrier to introduce Direct Carrier Billing in the Epic Games Store.

Both companies have plans for the coming year and aim to expand their partnership to provide more benefits to mobile players within the Telefónica network. Thanks to this collaboration, starting in 2025, third-party games will be accessible on the Epic Games Store. “Soon, games from third-party developers directly on their Android device,” said Michael Modon, Senior Director of Growth Partnerships for Epic Games.
