Mobile App Store ecosystem is getting better!

Story Highlights
  • Epic Games, in partnership with Playdigious, is offering Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee for free until February 20, 2025.
  • They are beginning by offering new games each month, with plans to move to a weekly schedule later this year.
  • Epic Games is also rolling out new features to the Epic Games Store Mobile app, including Epic Account login and an auto-update feature.

Epic Games has announced the launch of their Free Games program globally on Android and exclusively on iOS in the European Union, alongside the addition of nearly 20 third-party games to the Epic Games Store. Epic Games Store successfully debuted on both platforms in August 2024, with the iOS version restricted to users within the European Union.

It is an exciting day for the mobile gaming community, as Epic Games has officially launched the Free Games program, along with various third-party games, and new layout updates and functionality to the app.

The team shared their enthusiasm, saying, “We’re excited to distribute the first wave of games from third-party mobile developers, now available alongside FortniteFall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe on the Epic Games Store mobile app.

Epic Games has partnered with Playdigious to launch Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee as the first free game exclusively on Epic Games Store Mobile, available for free until February 20, 2025. Additionally, they have announced that Bloons TD 6 will be joining the store soon.

To start, there will be new games offered each month until we move to a weekly schedule later this year,” Epic Games added. They are also introducing several new app features such as Epic Account login as well as a new auto-update feature, which is a great addition in my opinion.

Epic Games is bringing a lot of benefits to mobile game developers

They have also extended its PC terms to mobile, “including the 88/12 revenue share for payments we process and 0% on third party payments,” the team explained. Through their Launch Everywhere with Epic program, developers can gain additional benefits, and it is inclusive of Epic First Run, which maximizes the developer’s revenue share during a game’s initial run on the Store.

I feel these are very crucial developments for the mobile gaming community. I believe Epic Games Store for Mobile free games program and these new features are positive steps forward for both players and developers. Moreover, Epic Games has introduced self-publishing tools for mobile games, currently in an invite-only beta, and they plan to provide this to all publishers and developers later this year.
