- With the introduction of Women's Football, FM25 is expanding.
Football Manager has shared the development update for its upcoming FM 25 title, and as expected, there is a lot to discuss. With their idea of having a true sequel with groundbreaking changes for the upcoming season, we can notice they are on track with these updates, and as new features are concerned, we can expect a fresh UI, a tiles and cards system, and more, which I will be discussing in this article. Additionally, the devs have shared a release date as well with Football Manager 25 officially going live in March 2025, which is delayed after the first announcement was dated on November 26, 2024.
What’s not coming in Football Manager 25
The development of Football Manager 25 has led to several tough decisions regarding the game’s features and modes, which Miles Jacobson, the head of Sports Interactive, suggests as “reviving their approach” in the latest blog post.
For example, Touchline Shouts will not appear in FM25 and even maybe for a long time, as it did not meet the expectations of developers. Also, the Social Media screen and Data Chalkboard are taken out to improve User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX), the details of which I will share in the features section. While some data from the social media screen will still be found elsewhere, the introduction of Data Hub has led to a drop in chalkboard usage.

Although a fan favorite, Create-A-Club will not be accessible at release. FM 26 plans to reintroduce it with several significant improvements. Versus Mode is also under review and might come back differently or be replaced by another mode altogether. The Challenge Mode is out too and is set for a return either in FM26 or FM27 with makers ensuring it returns with the best immersive experience possible.
Meanwhile, FM25 will not feature the Fantasy Draft mode immediately when it is launched, but this mode will come back improved during the game cycle and in line with the Main Data Update. Moving forward, as with all games in the Football Manager series, new features will be released mid-cycle to improve and update them continuously.
Football Manager 25 will be bringing plenty of new features
Football Manager 25 marks a significant technological shift with the move to the Unity engine, promising enhanced graphical fidelity and more efficient development processes. The base for the next twenty years of the game has been laid by this single change, starting with a fresh UI and UX.
To enable more simplistic interactions between players and give them chances to explore more, this new UI utilizes a Tile and Card system. As tiles display summaries of information that can be expanded into detailed cards, they reduce screen clutter and improve navigation. Also, the level of detail is pretty amazing, as you can have every data in easy viewing.

A major change involves replacing the traditional Inbox with Portal, which features improved tools compared to the Agenda and Messages sections, with more insight on News and Matches. The game will also feature an all-inclusive “one game, one ecosystem” where both men’s and women’s football will be included as some licenses have already been acquired for several women’s leagues.
Additionally, Players across all FM25 titles will now be able to carry forward save games from the corresponding Football Manager 24 release, with save game compatibility now introduced to Football Manager Mobile as well!
When will Football Manager 25 release
Football Manager 25 is launching globally sometime in March 2025 for PC, PS5, Xbox One, and for both mobile platforms ie Android and iOS as a part of the Netflix Games catalog. Additionally, the Football Manager 25 or FM25 Touch for Nintendo Switch will be digitally released on 3rd December 2024. The devs will share further info on FM25 Touch in the coming days.
From 30 September onwards, until the game’s release, if you pre-order FM25 for PC from a SEGA-approved digital retailer, you will be receiving an additional 10% discount as well. Pre-orders for FM25 Console (Xbox/PS5) will commence at a later date.
