Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 v22.10 update brings new Cobra DMR, grapple glove, and more

Scope out prey with the Cobra DMR!

The time in paradise of Fortnite just got even more pleasant with v22.10. The Grapple Glove is back, along with a new DMR, new items to unlock with your Keys, and the first significant update of Chapter 3 Season 4! The Super Level Styles for this Season will also be accessible soon.

Fortnite introduces the Cobra DMR in the v22.10 update

With a Cobra DMR’s enormous range, it is difficult to escape. If players have a steady hand, they can easily defeat enemies with this weapon’s rapid-fire rate. Locate Cobra DMRs underfoot, as well as Reality Sapling Fruit, fishing, Loot Sharks, and chests with supplies. The conventional DMR has been vaulted with the introduction of the Cobra DMR.

Players have been utilizing keys to open both Low-Security Vaults and High-Security Vaults so far in Chapter 3 Season 4. Holo-Chests have just joined the list of containers. To access a Holo-Chest containing the desired item, use one Key: Before opening a Holo-Chest, you can get a holographic preview of what’s inside to make sure it has what you need.

Use two Keys to access an Exotic Holo-Chest if you’re too distant from a selling Character. As players might think, Exotic Holo-Chests provide a holographic glimpse of the Exotic item they carry.

The Grapple Glove returns in Fortnite v22.10 update

Chapter 3 of Season 3’s Grapple Glove: Vibin’ is unvaulted. The Grapple Glove works in the following ways:

  • Shoot its grappling hook at a solid object, such as a building, prop, or cliff, to start swinging. Up until the third swing and afterward, each subsequent swing grows faster until you reach your maximum speed.
  • You will only have a limited window of opportunity to shoot the grappling hook and return swinging if you miss a shot and fall to the ground. Don’t be scared to combine some slides into your swinging action because you’ll have an even longer window if you slide out of a swing.
  • If your window of opportunity expires, don’t worry—the Grapple Glove will automatically prepare itself again after a little cool down. Get back in the air when the Grapple Glove is prepared once more. Alternatively, you can utilize its grappling hook to bring objects closer to you if you need to get anything out of reach. As soon as your Grapple Glove runs out of charges, keep firing the grappling hook.

Grapple Gloves aren’t kept in Grapple Glove Toolboxes like they were in Chapter 3 Season 3. This time, they can be discovered on the ground, in chests, supply drops, and sapling fruits of legendary and mythical realities. The v22.20 upgrade will not end the availability of grapple gloves.

Fortnite v22.10 update brings the Nothing’s Gift Pickaxe

The Chapter 3 Season 4 Battle Pass’s Page 2 features Bytes’ The Nothing’s Gift Pickaxe. Beginning with version 22.10, Bytes Quests will be given to everyone who has unlocked this Pickaxe or will unlock it. To unlock up to seven alternate styles for The Nothing’s Gift, such as The Dread Claw, Sharpened Sunburst, Razer Thorn, and others, equip Bytes and complete these quests.

Bonus styles for this Season’s Battle Pass are available in this update

Players that advance past Level 100 now have access to extra Styles for this Season’s Battle Pass Outfits under the Bonus Rewards area of the Battle Pass menu. The Super Level Styles for this Season will go on sale on October 6 at 9:00 AM ET. Once you reach Level 140 in Chapter 3 Season 4, you can start giving Bytes, Lennox Rose, Paradigm (Reality-659), Meow Skulls, and Spider-Gwen access to the Celestial, Spectral, and Aurelian Styles.

Experience a more robust Squad Comms Wheel

You might have noticed a more capable Squad Comms Wheel as of v20.00. Hold down the Ping button to bring up the Squad Communications Wheel and transmit commands to your hired characters or put pings for your squad with more specificity.

Your squadmates might disregard your orders to “Watch this location” or “Defend here” when you direct them to do so from halfway across the map, but the characters you recruited for the island will obey you at all times. Set up markers so they can follow you, advance up to a point, or even go resurrect a fallen teammate.

Other updates and changes in the Fortnite 22.10 update

Miscellaneous updates

  • Boogie Bombs have been vaulted in both non-competitive and competitive playlists.
  • Most one-handed Pickaxes, such as the Gum Brawler and Tribute’s Flail, would previously equip by flying into the player’s hand. We’ve adjusted this to be a new equip animation in v22.10.
  • In case you missed it, we recently released a balance hotfix affecting EvoChrome Shotguns and EvoChrome Burst Rifles:
    • Their floor loot availability is now increased.
    • Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary versions can now be found in Chrome and regular Chests.
    • The damage needed to upgrade an EvoChrome weapon at each rarity tier is now greatly reduced.

Competitive Notes

  • The Grapple Glove is not included in competitive playlists.
  • In case you missed it, the Ranger Shotgun has recently been added to competitive playlists.

Major bug fixes

  • Players on the controller are now able to consistently navigate the inventory with the left thumbstick.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the map to default to the Map tab even when previously closed on the Quests tab.
  • Lennox Rose’s hair no longer obstructs the reticle while crouching.
  • Players should no longer get stuck when phasing through Chrome-ified structures at Herald’s Sanctum.
  • Chrome-ified building pieces now lose their “on fire” visual effects when the fire has ended.
  • Fixed an issue that caused visual/screen effects from a Chrome Vortex to persist in specific circumstances.
  • The “Reset to last saved position” button in the HUD Layout Tool on mobile is again returning all buttons to the last saved position.
  • Fixed an issue involving hair clipping through headwear on several Outfits.
  • Blackheart’s Character indicator is again appearing on the minimap.
  • The Storm notification no longer appears towards the middle of the screen.

That was all about the Fortnite v22.10 update.
