Fortnite: Epic Games launches the new Fortnite NA-Central server

Fortnite is an action-packed battle royale game from Epic Games where players need to fight against each other on an island with 100 players and survive till the end to become the winner. And now Epic Games has announced the launch of the Fortnite NA-Central server as its new matchmaking region. The launch of this new server region will provide lower latency for many players residing in Mexico and the Central United States.

This new server area, which is based in Dallas, Texas, USA, was made possible by Epic Games’ partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS Local Zones are being used by the NA-Central server area to give players in Mexico and the Central United States a low-latency gaming experience that is comparable to that of gamers in the NA-East and NA-West server regions.

What does The Na-Central Server Region mean for Competitive events

While tournaments in North America will mostly be held on the NA-East and NA-West server areas, we may hold a few competitive events on the NA-Central server zone during Battle Royale of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 to test server performance and fix any flaws.

The NA-East and NA-West server zones will no longer conduct competitive events as of Chapter 4 Season 2. North American competitions will instead operate on the NA-Central servers. While set to the NA-East or NA-West server area, players will still be able to browse and queue for upcoming competitive events, but the event will be routed to the NA-Central servers.

Future Battle Royale Seasons’ prizes for NA-East and NA-West will be consolidated into a single North American prize pool. This includes obtaining qualifiers through multi-round competitions like the FNCS Global Championship, FNCS Majors, and Victory Cash Cups. For the first time, all competitive events in North America will have a single champion.
