Epic Games has made the strategic move to expand into a new app market by introducing Fortnite to the OPPO App Market for Android in select regions. OPPO announced they worked with Epic Games to bring the popular battle royale to their mobile devices.
Epic Games and OPPO strike a deal to bring Fortnite to the latter’s app store
The controversy surrounding Epic Games with Apple and Google is something most of us know. The lawsuit against Google in 2020 stemmed from Google’s removal of Fortnite from the Google Play Store in response to Fortnite’s inclusion of an alternative in-app payment system, while also the game being removed and later blacklisted from the Apple App Store.
This App Store vs Epic Games battle was something to think about for Fortnite’s future, and with the game entering Oppo’s app store, we can say things are going right for Epic and is a clear indicator of the tussle against the 30% commission imposed by Apple and Google Play. I believe they will continue to search for more such open markets until Apple backs off with their cut.
You can download Fortnite from the OPPO App Market in select regions, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. You just have to search for Fortnite in the App Market on your devices, and then you can proceed with the installation.
Although there are plenty of compatible OPPO Android devices that can run the game, Fortnite at 90FPS is supported on a limited set of devices, which includes the following:
- OPPO Find X3 Pro
- OPPO Find X5 Pro
- OPPO Find X6 Pro (This device is officially sold only in China)
- OPPO Reno10 Pro+
Before downloading the game above, make sure your device meets the Fortnite Mobile system requirements, which are answered here. Sadly, there isn’t an OPPO App Market available on devices of other brands, so this will remain exclusive to that brand.
