Garena has announced that it has banned several participating teams from the Free Fire City Open tournament 2021 in India. Garena announced the official Free Fire Esports India Facebook page. A total of nine teams were disqualified in total including the popular Total Gaming Esports who was sent packing from the tournament after a competitive ruling.
Several reasons cited for the ban from Free Fire City Open 2021
On 6th May 2021, Garena began a more in-depth verification process for the top 3000 teams that were shortlisted from the FFC mode of FFCO. From the investigation process, several teams submitted details of players that are currently serving their ban from esports tournaments. These teams are hence disqualified from FFCO.

Garena has discovered that few players have participated in the FFC more than once. For several teams such as TG-BALA…‼ and TG-FozyBhai went on to compete for both the teams of Team FOMZYvai and TG-Delhi. This led to their respective disqualification from the Free Fire City Open tournament. LVL-AMATERASU team has also been disqualified by Gareena after the admin had failed to verify their account due to the team blocking the admin from doing so.
The Free Fire City Open remains a multi-regional competition that takes place in India with a staggering $80,000 cash price. The tournament is divided into six stages and ends with 12 teams that must compete in the National Stage to be crowned the FFCO champions.
