Google Play may get a new feature soon where apps will auto-launch after a download

Tap less with the new, auto launch feature!

As per the latest developments in the industry, Google Play might release a new feature to their platform which might save a few taps for the users on their platform. Google Play as per reports, is working on a new feature that will auto-launch the newly downloaded apps as soon as they are available. The news is as of now based on speculations and hence it’s not clear when this feature will be made available.

The feature will be available by default but can be toggled on and off by the users

As reported by Android Authority, the new feature will allow the apps that are being downloaded on the device to auto-open once the downloading is completed. Earlier the users had the option to uninstall the app upon completing the download or open it manually by taping to select the option. However now, with this update, the apps will auto-open with other options available after it is auto-launched.

The feature as suggested by an APK Teardown, will not be a mandatory update and could be toggled on and off based on the preference of users. This new feature would act as a nice optional update for both users, who prefer and do not prefer to auto-launch the apps once downloaded. As per the APK teardown of Play Store v41.4.19, the new feature is available by the name App Auto Open.

App Auto Open will send a notification banner across the top of the screen when activated which will last for 5 seconds. It will also ring or vibrate based on the mobile settings. According to me, it will be a nice touch to have a feature like auto-download, as sometimes you download the apps, and then forget to launch them when downloaded. With it being optional, it can also be toggled off, when not required.

It is unclear when and if the new feature will be added to the marketplace

Google Play has been adding cool updates to its platform recently and it will be interesting to see auto-open updates happen.

As stated before, the news is reported as per the APK teardown performed by Android Authority and no official updates or news have been provided by Google Play. Hence there is no official date as to when this feature will be available, it can be expected within the next few updates. If the update is made live it will definitely come very handy for many on the platform.
