iPhones with Fortnite installed are being sold for as much as $18,000

After-effects of Fortnite removal from Stores!

We reported last week that Fortnite has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store after Epic Games violated the policy on direct payments for both the stores. Gamers across the globe were searching for ways to somehow download Fortnite even after its removal. Those with Android devices were lucky as they had safe ways to download and play the popular Battle Royale. iOS users couldn’t get any medium to download the same. Now, we are witnessing the after-effects of Fortnite removal from Stores as iPhones with Fortnite pre-installed are being put up on sold for as much as $18,000!

Who are selling iPhones with Fortnite installed?

People were exploring ways to download Fortnite on iOS on social media and Google. If you already downloaded Fortnite Mobile before it was removed then Apple has no way to delete it. The interesting news is, some iPhone owners with Fortnite preinstalled have taken to eBay with listings as high as $18,000.

The removal of Fortnite from Google Play and App Store didn’t take eBay scalpers long and they got in the action from the third day. With the passage of the week, hundreds of the iPhones with the Fortnite pre-installed are now listed on the auction site.

iOS users across the globe are currently unable to download Fortnite unless they jailbreak their phone thus, resulting in voiding the warranty. That’s a really very risky affair and this is why iPhones are up on sale on eBay with such enormous amount. We aren’t sure whether gamers will be interested in spending such amounts. But it is clear that the after-effects of Fortnite removal from Stores can turn into a potential business opportunity.

Final thoughts

There are a lot of questions regarding the ongoing spat between Epic Games and Google Play & App Store. Currently, as things stand, Epic has sued both Google & Apple. We still have no idea when this saga will end. Will they work out their differences and search for mid-way in order to sort out things? Will players with Fortnite pre-installed in their iPhone be able to update Fortnite in the future? We have to wait and watch.
